PVT 2016

The PVT works! I've noticed that it is not a good indicator of if you failed (even if they took your money so don't lose hope if you get the "bad popup"), but it is a PERFECT indicator of if you passed. So, if you get the "good pop-up" then YOU PASSED!

48 hours? That's it?

I waited 8 weeks.

Do you only get hired based on passing the NCLEX? We got hired as GNs- graduate nurses.

YOU were not feeling confident? Come ON.

8 weeks is a very long time. Good for you for having that kind of patience. I'm glad myself and my classmates did not have to wait that long.

Myself and others had alot riding on passing NCLEX. I landed a job before graduation that was contingent upon passing NCLEX the first go round. If I would have failed, that job would have gone bye-bye. Also, in texas if you fail NCLEX, you immediately lose your GN status until the state issues you another ATT. That's my understanding of the process. That's also why I was very nervous after taking NCLEX and wasn't feeling confident. I had a lot to lose. PVT helped me relax.

To get hired as a graduate nurse in california you need to pay extra money to the BRN for an interim permit. I think its $50 but I'm really not sure. That said, the only people who get hired on interim permits in urban areas usually have an "in." Maybe they are a CNA on the floor already or maybe they are a phlebotomist for Blood Source and they signed a contract to give blood source a year of RN work if Blood source pays for their education otherwise its nearly impossible to get hired on your interim permit. It just doesnt happen in SF, Sac, LA, or SD...maybe in rural areas, I dont know.

If we failed the NCLEX we would lose our jobs as GNs.

"Back in the day"

I work as an ED tech at the hospital I work at now in Maryland and my job was contingent on passing the boards. They no longer higher GN; only RNs. I start my orientation tomorrow and would be postponed another month if I failed the exam. I needed to know my results so I could start this class tomorrow. So quick results was a plus for me.

I just don't see the 48 hour thing. Not being able to wait 48 hours... ?

And certainly places of employment know you have to "wait" for your results, right?

You can buy boots with that $200!

Again, not my business. I stay out of PVT as a rule. I followed my friend in here today, and I do agree with the "older" nurses.

However, not my money, and I already passed the NCLEX. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Congrats to all those that passed!

And sometimes it's not even 48 hours. I tested at 8:00 am on a Saturday and my states BoN had results posted Sunday morning at 7:30 am. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

I tested in 2008 and the state had my license number up the second day. I knew nothing about the PVT at the time (did it exist then?) but I would not have attempted it because I did not want to risk wasting $200 and regardless of the results, I would have stressed until my license number appeared anyway.

Lots of negative opinions formed on wrong information.

The trick can be done with zero risk of $200. If you don't like this trick no one is making you do it.

No one is saying it is 100% accurate but my guess is it is probably 99% if someone did some kind of analysis on it.

It is mostly "wrong" because people do it incorrectly and spread wrong information.

Are people annoyed because others people can't wait days and weeks for official results? We can't wait just as much as you can't refrain yourself from forming opinions in threads that aren't relevant to you.

I think people don't realise you can put in an empty Amex gift card, etc. and get a result without risking financial loss.

!!!!!!

Here's my experience so far... Took nclex pn Saturday morning @ 8 am computer shut off 85 questions into the test, roughly at about 9 am. Waited 5 hours did the pvt trick and got the good pop up. 24 hours later still got the good pop up. 38 hours later still getting the good pop up. No quick results for PN here but once I get my official results I'll let everyone know if it worked for me. Also a fellow classmate who tested on the 19th has been getting the good pop up since then.

Quick results are available after 48 hours in applicable states. However, 48 hours can feel like 2 weeks after taking NCLEX. Especially if you are not feeling confident about whether you passed or failed. In some places, folks have to wait for weeks at a time. That's why we used PVT. I hope you understand..

I waited 48 hours & lived. How would you feel if you got the wrong results from the PVT & accepted a job offer, it has happened. There are nurses who took the NCLEX waay before computers, the PVT or quick results & some how they managed to survive until they got their results WEEKS later. Not hours, not days WEEKS.

What is it in this day in age where we must have spontaneous results? We must know everything now now now! We are so impatient, it's sickening.
