The PVT works! I've noticed that it is not a good indicator of if you failed (even if they took your money so don't lose hope if you get the "bad popup"), but it is a PERFECT indicator of if you passed. So, if you get the "good pop-up" then YOU PASSED!

It is just a trick. I think if it helps people to calm down a bit after the test, even as a placebo type effect, then more power to them. I was wrecked all weekend with worry that somehow I'd made a mess of it.

It didn't help me feel any better, but if it does for other people, who am I to look down on them?

All I am saying is can we keep this post to being constructive with whether the PVT worked or not. It worked for me with the good pop up and I have evidence to prove it. If it worked for you to, awesome share your stories whether it was the good pop up for pass or charged your credit card for a failure. If it didn't work for you, I am sorry and still share your result. The only way to know if it works or not is to people to share their experiences not their opinion.

Admittedly, I am new to allnurses.com. Ive done some lurking but I just signed up and I probably have not read nearly as many forums as you have. I shouldve graduated in May but I broke my wrist and just finished in december. From the experience of the 33 people in my original class, 32 passed and 1 failed her first time (she passed her second) the PVT was accurate for all 34. From what Ive read the NCLEX is graded twice. Once as youre taking it and a second time the next day. From what Ive read if you wait 24 hours to do the PVT (enough time for test to be regraded) it is accurate. I have yet to read about a case of it being inaccurate. If you can show me instances of testers waiting 24 hours and it being inaccurate, I welcome your input but putting up made up percentages does no one any good.

How long would you have to wait without the PVT?

Right now the Ca BRN is claiming 2-4 weeks but our licensing is handled by the Department of Consumer Affairs website which is being remodeled. I think we lost four business days to the remodeling and who knows if there will be more days lost in the near future, so realistically 3-5 weeks.

How long would you have to wait without the PVT?

Quick results are available after 48 hours in applicable states. However, 48 hours can feel like 2 weeks after taking NCLEX. Especially if you are not feeling confident about whether you passed or failed. In some places, folks have to wait for weeks at a time. That's why we used PVT. I hope you understand..

48 hours? That's it?

I waited 8 weeks.

Do you only get hired based on passing the NCLEX? We got hired as GNs- graduate nurses.

YOU were not feeling confident? Come ON.
