Proper undergarments under WHITE PANTS

Nurses Professionalism

Published

Ladies, why is it ok in anyone's mind to wear colored underwear, bikini underwear, or underwear with writing all over them under your WHITE UNIFORMS!?? Why is that ok I ask over and over...no one thinks that that is a bit unprofessional? Really? if we aren't professional in every way then we aren't professional nurses at all..ladies take pride in yourself wear the proper underwear under your white uniforms..

Not to get too much into detail, but I always wore cream colored thongs. We had white scrub pants in school. I felt so insecure in full-butt undies because I felt you could see the lines and see my undies right through the pants. And TRUST ME, I always made sure the thong was not detectable AT ALL. However, I once was working a first shift clinical rotation and was super sleepy. I forgot to change my neon pink undies and the whole day I was out there on parade for everyone! Humiliating! :nailbiting:

Love "boy shorts" type undies. They are comfy, come in any solid color one wants, and doesn't show through.

And I order one size up for my scrub pants. When they are too tight it is just not comfortable....

I never understand all white scrubs from a patient perspective anyway. All it says to me as a patient is "looney bin nurse!" or "orderly who is going to pin me down for talking." I may watch too much tv...

Our white uniform policy comes from the top...people who don't work the floor and just don't get it anymore...time has changed...and they don't mind the sights BC NO ONE in my facility addresses polka dots, bikini, thong or lettered undergarments...

We had to wear all white in nursing school. We decided that rule was made by post-menopausal sadistic instructors hell-bent on abject humiliation of nursing students!

I used to wear bikis/boyshorts AND leggings/shorts (back in the day when I had clinical). I get super cold in the morning that's why I liked wearing leggings. I felt more comfortable knowing that nobody could see what I was wearing!

One time at work, I saw this nursing student and she was wearing a black thong! You could clearly see it! I was like..whoah! I didn't say anything. But I think its already automatic or common sense to at least try to be more subtle and professional!

I had to wear white scrubs for my cna program and wound up wearing black running stretchy pants underneath. I could wear whatever underwear I want lol

I think the white made us stand out as student nurses. It looked classy and traditional. But they were impractical and hard to keep clean. After a year our whites were dingy and no amount of bleach could fix them.
