  1. thank you so much! :) I am planning on taking STABLE as soon as possible.
  2. Hi everyone, Do you have any tips on how to land a job in NICU? I have been a medsurg RN for like 5 years now and I am interested in NICU. This has been my dream job eversince nursing school. I have my NRP and have been applying , but no luck! Thanks
  3. Hey charr-RN, I've had 2-3 phone interviews in the past. I say practice general interview questions like : Tell me about yourself, what are your goals in nursing? Why nursing?Strengths and weaknesses? Know the hospital's mission, values just in case they ask a question about that. Google up interview questions and practice! Try not to freak out too much before and during your interview.Make sure you have a pen and paper to take notes and you are in a quiet place with reception(if you are using a cellphone). Oh and prepare to have questions for the interviewer like : how long is the training? is it a 12 hr shift?things like that. It shows them you are interested! Goodluck! RNeabv
  4. Yes it does play a big role! Try to get as much sleep as you can the night before the exam. Take care of yourself and study hard! You can do it!
  5. Kinbari08, I really hope I get the job! Can you tell I am sure anxious? lol. It has been so frustrating and hard to find a job here in California! I am willing to move and get experience! By the way, its good to hear that you like working there :)
  6. I used to wear bikis/boyshorts AND leggings/shorts (back in the day when I had clinical). I get super cold in the morning that's why I liked wearing leggings. I felt more comfortable knowing that nobody could see what I was wearing! One time at work, I saw this nursing student and she was wearing a black thong! You could clearly see it! I was like..whoah! I didn't say anything. But I think its already automatic or common sense to at least try to be more subtle and professional! RNeabv
  7. Hi Scarletta10, I used Kaplan when I first took the NCLEX, didn't quite work for me! I must say I didn't study as much as I should have, was super nervous and didn't get enough sleep the day before of the exam! I used Saunders Comprehensive review for the 2nd time and it worked! I used a variety of resources-youtube videos, Hurst audio, NCLEX 4000, prioritization delegation and assignment aka PDA by La Charity! What I did differently for the second attempt: I went over content and used Saunders! I read/skimmed the book on areas where I though I was weak on. If I felt like I am missing a lot of questions on med surg. I would go back, read and make sure that I understood the concept. I answered questions at the end of the chapter. I wrote my notes, made flashcards/diagrams. If you want, you could read my post for more information on what I did to prep for my second attempt! Goodluck! RNeabv
  8. Henrica80, Hi! I think its normal to be a little bit nervous before an interview! I say practice general interview questions : Tell me about yourself, what are your strengths and weaknesses etc. Search on google,There are plenty of interview tips. If I remember correctly, the clinical coordinator only asked me 4-5 questions! Goodluck! RNEABV
  9. Goodluck! Try to get enough sleep, bring some snacks and take breaks in between tomorrow!Let us know how it goes RNeabv
  10. DatMurse, Fingers crossed! :) Simplicitea, I know how you feel! I graduated last year too. We will find something!
  11. Datmurse, Hi! My interview went well. The clinical coordinator said they will be doing a background check on me and will get back to me in about a week! thanks! I hope I get the job! RNeabv
  12. Hi everyone, I applied to St. Alexius last night for their graduate RN position. I got a call this morning and spoke with the clinical coordinator for the maternity/women's department. I have a phone interview tomorrow morning! Any tips? i am a little nervous. RNeabv
  13. Hi playas09, I think the Saunders comprehensive book helped a lot. I have been out of school for a few months (6-7months) before taking the nclex for the 2nd time. This book was my main resource for studying. Goodluck!
