Philippine RN and hopefully to Florida
Hi vncld, You said you are planning to practice in Florida where your relatives lived. Do you have already a US visa? The reason I asked because the route will be different if you have a US visa. All you have to do is have your credentials evaluated and submit to Fl.BON to take the NCLEX. The other route is an agency thing which I am not much familiar with. But you can inquire direct to Florida Hospitals, this is where many filipina nurses were sponsored. Good luck.PM me if you have other questions that I might can help.

Diving back in.....HELP!!!!
Hi mamgoz, Would you mind if I ask you where you do your refresher course? I'm considering to take since I'm out of nursing for almost 9 years and I have a difficult time now getting back into nursing. Thanks.

Post-interview thank you notes - do you or don't you?
I had my interview yesterday and send a thank you email within 24 hours, and consider it a chance to ask for an in person interview and whatever else I forgot to ask during the phone interview. With my previous job,I sent a thank you letter after a face to face interview, and been lucky to get that position. So,there's no harm if we send this note especially when they are interviewing many applicants, this may contribute to be one factor to be considered. Just my thought.

Thanks RNEABV for that inputs. I will be applying as Research Nurse and will use a celphone. I hope I will not lost a good signal, and planning to position myself close to the window.

What questions I'll expect during phone screen interview?
Hi clovery, congratulations of that position offer! and thanks for your inputs. I really needed it. My phone interview will be next week, and I'm overloaded with notes that I don't know which one to concentrate. Anyway, this will be my first phone interview, and I hope I can be in my best. I really wanted this job. I was told that I will have a 30 minute time.

What questions I'll expect during phone screen interview?
Anyone that has an idea what questions I will be expecting during a phone screen interview? I've been reading posts here, and aside from having a comfortable space for a 30 minute interview, I'd like to know what topics I will be reviewing for this situation. Is this where the behavioral interview comes? I hope someone will share their experience in this scenario. I will be very grateful for any inputs. Many thanks.

pls.critique my resume
Hello everyone, I hope someone can critique my resume. I don't have an RN experience except my nursing aide job while finishing my BSN,that was 10 years ago.I started a business with family but continue to find nursing job, with no luck, thus years passed by. Can this be put as my work experience, even if it's not relevant to a nursing position I am going to apply? In my cover letter,it's the only nursing experience that I can describe too. Here's how my resume will look. Professional Summary Graduate Nurse Skilled career professional with three years practical experience as nursing aide in home health environment. Established in patient health education, medication regimen, and documentation. Computer knowledge Phlebotomy skilled Electronic Medical Documentation License/ Certification State of Florida Registered NurseBasic Life Support, American Heart Association Work ExperienceSelf employed - XYZ Company , Florida 2004 - Presnt Private Duty Nurse Aide 2001 - 2004 Supervisor - Pharmacy 1995 - 2001 Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing , College Name Practical Nursing , College Name Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, College Name

Previous Degree
I would like to know if it is a must to put previous unrelated degree in making resume? I have business degree then PN then BSN. If I don't put it on my resume, is this an act of omission and will affect any background check? also my work experience is only on my business degree. After my BSN, I still continue working on my business position until today. This makes me unexperience in Nursing positions, but I really wanted to pursue my love in Nursing. Also, are we only going to put the 10 year period of work experience? Like from 2004 to 2014? I would appreciate your ideas here.Thanks.

RN to apply as Phlebotomist
Thanks everyone for the replies, and to you applesxoranges,I will check on that center you mentioned. Right now where I'm training for phlebotomy clinical portion of my classes,I saw one vacancy.Since I have an RN license,I was confused how to make a resume to apply on this vacancy.I know I have to be honest in everything I'm going to put in my resume. Since I don't have any RN experience,I was thinking to apply as phlebotomist first and work for years if hired.I don't mind the rate as long as I can start to have something to say a job experience.I've been looking for RN jobs but having no experience is my failure. Thanks again.

RN to apply as Phlebotomist
I'm an RN with no experience,so I took phlebotomy class to have some skills on my resume. Now, I saw openings on phlebotomy, am I qualified to apply for this position? I am willing to start with this if there's no problem for me applying as phlebotomist. I don't know where to start, whether to go ahead and apply or ask the Human Resource Office first. Any advice here is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Inactive or Unemployed RN,Is it ok to apply medicaid?
Just to make an update of this: I applied but was denied for reason of :Income is too high to qualify for this program. Our income is just the SS benefits my husband is receiving and it only covers our mortgage. For now, my best move is to do my refresher course so I can start job hunting and think of other remedies. Anyway, it's good to know that anyone can apply for this public assistance. Thanks everyone for your replies.

Inactive or Unemployed RN,Is it ok to apply medicaid?
I am unemployed for 8 years attending to family's obligation as my priority.I'm in my 50's now and healthwise have high blood pressure, and needs to be seen by doctor. My hubby had medicare and I don't have insurance. I need a medical assistance which for now I cannot afford.MY question is this. I have an RN license, will it not be affected if I applied for a medicaid assistance? This is only good until I can get a job this year, which I am already preparing to take a refresher course and land a job with a good luck! I know the stigma of having this assistance but I have no other means of making myself medically taken cared of. Would like to hear from those who have ideas on this area.
