  1. Thanks mamgoz, way too far for me, but i Liked how it's structured. I'm closer to Daytona State College.I'll try to inquire there soon.
  2. Hi vncld, You said you are planning to practice in Florida where your relatives lived. Do you have already a US visa? The reason I asked because the route will be different if you have a US visa. All you have to do is have your credentials evaluated and submit to Fl.BON to take the NCLEX. The other route is an agency thing which I am not much familiar with. But you can inquire direct to Florida Hospitals, this is where many filipina nurses were sponsored. Good luck.PM me if you have other questions that I might can help.
  3. Hi mamgoz, Would you mind if I ask you where you do your refresher course? I'm considering to take since I'm out of nursing for almost 9 years and I have a difficult time now getting back into nursing. Thanks.
  4. I had my interview yesterday and send a thank you email within 24 hours, and consider it a chance to ask for an in person interview and whatever else I forgot to ask during the phone interview. With my previous job,I sent a thank you letter after a face to face interview, and been lucky to get that position. So,there's no harm if we send this note especially when they are interviewing many applicants, this may contribute to be one factor to be considered. Just my thought.
  5. Thanks RNEABV for that inputs. I will be applying as Research Nurse and will use a celphone. I hope I will not lost a good signal, and planning to position myself close to the window.
  6. Hi clovery, congratulations of that position offer! and thanks for your inputs. I really needed it. My phone interview will be next week, and I'm overloaded with notes that I don't know which one to concentrate. Anyway, this will be my first phone interview, and I hope I can be in my best. I really wanted this job. I was told that I will have a 30 minute time.
  7. Anyone that has an idea what questions I will be expecting during a phone screen interview? I've been reading posts here, and aside from having a comfortable space for a 30 minute interview, I'd like to know what topics I will be reviewing for this situation. Is this where the behavioral interview comes? I hope someone will share their experience in this scenario. I will be very grateful for any inputs. Many thanks.
  8. Hello everyone, I hope someone can critique my resume. I don't have an RN experience except my nursing aide job while finishing my BSN,that was 10 years ago.I started a business with family but continue to find nursing job, with no luck, thus years passed by. Can this be put as my work experience, even if it's not relevant to a nursing position I am going to apply? In my cover letter,it's the only nursing experience that I can describe too. Here's how my resume will look. Professional Summary Graduate Nurse Skilled career professional with three years practical experience as nursing aide in home health environment. Established in patient health education, medication regimen, and documentation. Computer knowledge Phlebotomy skilled Electronic Medical Documentation License/ Certification State of Florida Registered NurseBasic Life Support, American Heart Association Work ExperienceSelf employed - XYZ Company , Florida 2004 - Presnt Private Duty Nurse Aide 2001 - 2004 Supervisor - Pharmacy 1995 - 2001 Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing , College Name Practical Nursing , College Name Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, College Name
  9. Thanks for your response.
  10. I would like to know if it is a must to put previous unrelated degree in making resume? I have business degree then PN then BSN. If I don't put it on my resume, is this an act of omission and will affect any background check? also my work experience is only on my business degree. After my BSN, I still continue working on my business position until today. This makes me unexperience in Nursing positions, but I really wanted to pursue my love in Nursing. Also, are we only going to put the 10 year period of work experience? Like from 2004 to 2014? I would appreciate your ideas here.Thanks.
  11. Thanks everyone for the replies, and to you applesxoranges,I will check on that center you mentioned. Right now where I'm training for phlebotomy clinical portion of my classes,I saw one vacancy.Since I have an RN license,I was confused how to make a resume to apply on this vacancy.I know I have to be honest in everything I'm going to put in my resume. Since I don't have any RN experience,I was thinking to apply as phlebotomist first and work for years if hired.I don't mind the rate as long as I can start to have something to say a job experience.I've been looking for RN jobs but having no experience is my failure. Thanks again.
  12. I'm an RN with no experience,so I took phlebotomy class to have some skills on my resume. Now, I saw openings on phlebotomy, am I qualified to apply for this position? I am willing to start with this if there's no problem for me applying as phlebotomist. I don't know where to start, whether to go ahead and apply or ask the Human Resource Office first. Any advice here is highly appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Just to make an update of this: I applied but was denied for reason of :Income is too high to qualify for this program. Our income is just the SS benefits my husband is receiving and it only covers our mortgage. For now, my best move is to do my refresher course so I can start job hunting and think of other remedies. Anyway, it's good to know that anyone can apply for this public assistance. Thanks everyone for your replies.
  14. Thanks all for your replies,it gave me peace of mind. I'll go ahead and apply online.I tried my best to keep myself healthy but my constant headaches points to HBP.I cannot self medicate myself also without seeing a doctor. Thanks again.
  15. I am unemployed for 8 years attending to family's obligation as my priority.I'm in my 50's now and healthwise have high blood pressure, and needs to be seen by doctor. My hubby had medicare and I don't have insurance. I need a medical assistance which for now I cannot afford.MY question is this. I have an RN license, will it not be affected if I applied for a medicaid assistance? This is only good until I can get a job this year, which I am already preparing to take a refresher course and land a job with a good luck! I know the stigma of having this assistance but I have no other means of making myself medically taken cared of. Would like to hear from those who have ideas on this area.
  16. Hi lvnlrn, Glad to see your post.I've been reading here about steth and hearing aids. I will be seeing a VR to help me with my case. Can you pm me what kind of BTE hearing aid you have with phonak? I still have to get a hearing aid, and I will make sure it will be com- patible with a stethoscope. Also, I have'nt land a job yet. I hope to get some feedbacks from you, if you would'nt mind it. Thanks, and more power to you.

  19. Hi LovelyDragon, I was not able to catch up this June IV Therapy of Daytona College. It will start on the 7th.Still waiting for their Refresher Course. You can PM me so I can give my email add.Still don't know how to do this thing here,I mean doing PM. I am restless now, doing nothing, earning nothing.I hope I can start doing something that will make me employable soon.I wish I can just attend where you're doing your refresher course now.My problem is the driving. Good luck on your study, and enjoy your skills too! Please in your PM, would you please tell me how much the cost? Thanks.
  20. Hi! Just want to clarify this. When we ask for a volunteer job,do we need to tell that we want to have an experience in nursing? or we just leave them assign us anywhere? Thanks.
  21. Hello everyone! After passing the NCLEX,my focus now is job hunting.I saw different openings in the hospital but needs 4 months to a year of experience.I don't have any experience yet whatsoever except for my clinical portion of my study, that was 6 years ago. I also saw an ad in a veterans nursing home. For experience-0 to 1year. Now I am thinking which place is good to apply, and hoping be accepted, which place is good to work for a new nurse like me without any experience? Safety wise, and for getting a good experience.Does both place train a new nurse?I am sure hospital has preceptorship, but how about the nursing home? I hope someone out there who has an experience for both place or somebody who can give me an idea. Looking forward to hear from people here. Thanks for your inputs.
  22. How would I check my name on the BON? I'm in florida.
  23. Hi LovelyDragon, Good for you that you're now on your 2nd week. I'm still grounded here waiting for Daytona College to offer this soon. Could you be kind enough to give me an idea of the topics that will be included theory/clinical? DC has IV therapy class on June, Maybe for the meantime,I will attend this while waiting for their refresher course. Good luck on your class.I wish I can also attend such soon.
  24. Just my side. When I was applying for job last year, the HR already made a line up of my orientation schedule.During that time, I am already aware of my husband's schedule for surgery, so I asked if I can have a time off for that certain day.She said fine. The next day, I reported to my clinical manager,as scheduled, but only to be told, the director just called her this morning, they're not going to hire me.I was shocked, and asked why? The manager only told me that, they were expecting me to be around the other day for orientation. Although I explained my side, she cannot do anything. The fact that I asked permission from the HR lady who oriented me, if it's okay for me to be absent that day, makes me cried. The lesson now that I realized,if we need the job, they don't care what personal or family matter you will reason to them. The next time I will be applying for job, I would'nt ask anymore any personal/family matter time off. This will mean, losing the prospective job. But my husband insisted,it's not a good place to work with if they have that kind of treatment. What do you think? although, my husband has the point.
  25. Is this an employment exam? I am still job hunting on hospitals here in Daytona, or Deland, and I am not aware that there will be an exam once we applied for jobs. Hope to hear any idea from you guys who took this. Thanks.
