So yesterday I had oral surgery. I had a tooth extracted and a bone graft placed for preparation for an- implant. The dentist gave me a script for Vicodin. At first I was like no I will just deal with the pain until the pain began and the local wore ...

Yes I actually emailed my case worker from the pharmacy and took pictures of the scripts. I had surgery on Saturday. Thank you so much TXRNC. I don't work as an RN right now but that is my goal so I do not want to mess this up.
Well I cannot believe it has been a year and some change now. I have been thinking about this site and how many people helped me through the first couple months. Fast forward a year.I am now working in health care, not as a nurse, but as a customer s...

Hey TwoYearNurse, I will try to PM you or Catch you on Instagram. I texted but not sure it went through :) Congrats on your year as well and I think a couple more months in change than I have, but we all have today.
So I am realizing something over the past few weeks that I never thought I would even accept. I don't hate the BON or PNAP, I hated myself for doing what I did to land me in a monitoring program. Self-will run riot in the extreme sense of the word. I...
Hi everyone. So I am in my new class of human resources management in graduate school. I was researching the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and stumbled upon this section of the law that deals with substance use/abuse and hiring practices/proh...

1st time ... is that an okay thing to do...is it legal? I am just wondering because I thought you had to let them know during interview process that your license was under stipulations. Is that not the case until a job offer is made. See this is why ...

Esme12, Wow are you serious. That is extremmely messed up. I am actually speechless that it has gotten to the point in nursing where if the nurse is not the perfect likeness of Florence Nightengale with no problems or hardships he/she had to overcome...

Thank you twoyear for the thought of recording I will be researching that at a later date;) I have done further research and it seems that as with a lot of the laws concerning employment and rights it is set by people setting the precedents by not ba...

Viva, Thank you for your comment. You are right about that it is hard to prove discrimination, especially in the nursing / healthcare field when it comes to how we care for patients. Even before I was under the BON I had a job and was let go because ...
So for the past 106 days it has been all about AA and living and breathing the BON/PNAP. Today I go back to grad school and back to really focusing on something other than nursing and sobriety. My masters is in Health Care Administration and is about...

One more thing and I will let it go. Just like we ask that people refrain from using foul language on this board, maybe we could also ask that unless your comment has to do with addiction, nursing boards, or issues related to addiction keep it to you...

Thank you Catmom. I know you may think you were being helpful, but in actuality I interpreted your comment as an insult to free flowing writing and thought. It was my impression that this was a forum in which I could write in any which way I wanted. ...

Oh wow what a topic. In the past 84 days I am grateful for being a recovering alcoholic and just the right time in my life and at just the right place. Guess that was because God had His plan all along for my life and while I was out there making a m...

Me too (lost license in 2009 clean and sober 54 days) it took me a long time to come to a place where I could get to a point where I knew I was powerless and that I had to take a hard look at my life and turn my life and will over to God. The regrets...

Hello fellow nurses in recovery (the strongest soilders...remember fellow nurses God only chooses the strongest soilders for the toughest battles) I have a question about CEU's. There comes a time with certain things that require me to think past to...
wow this is scary. I am 2 and a half weeks from finishing IOP and going into the PNAP nursing support group. I had a feeling this is not simply a support group for nurses but a monitoring program. Complete honesty is something I strive for in my reco...
