Professional Pay in the ER

Specialties Emergency

Published

The hospital that I work in doesn't offer any "specialty" pay in the ER. I'm curious to hear if other states or areas of the country do offer added pay to certain specialty areas.

I don't get paid extra either...CEN, TNS, PALS, ACLS, BTLS, ENPC, etc... Get a lousy $1/hr xtra for charge.

We also don't receive speciality pay, not even for certification such as CEN, PALS, ACLS, ENPC, etc. Do get $1/hr for being charge.

Thanks all for your input

this thread has died a little so carry on your much needed trade even though we are very underpaid and under appreciated...

I like to think that all areas of Nursing are specialties in their own right. I am oncology and chemo certified, and have never received extra pay for either one.

i'm not sure if i said this yet? we get an extra $325 once a year paid at the end of the third quarter in a lump sum for maintaining or having a specialty certification. which is sure nice,

i just renewed my cen and cost me $280!

me :)

We get an extra 75cents/hr for having our CEN, and the hospital will also reimburse you the cost of the cert exam when you pass it. The 75 cents/hr goes for any one in the hosp certified in their speciality.

bob!

don't spend it all in one place! lol! :p

We don't get any extra money except $1.00 extra per hour for charge. I have ACLS ,PALS, TNCC, and CEN. Howevef the nurses in ICU, CICU, and CCU all make $2.00 over base pay because THEY are critical care units. Obviously, all the pts that I stabilize and take to thier units aren't REALLY sick until they roll in those units. The only thing that keeps me going is the knowledge that there is a special place in hell for hosp administrators.

Zudy, don't be afraid to speak your mind.... :)

what state you from?
