President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

On another topic, a ridiculous meme in another thread reminded me of this story I heard awhile back.

I wonder if that story reminded you that the 45th president hired his daughter and son-in-law as white house advisers? I wonder if it caused you to reflect upon the reality that neither Ivanka nor Jared had any qualifications or previous experience which prepared them for those roles?

Comparatively, none of the people are related to Biden or Harris and all of them are well qualified for the positions they occupy.  There is no indication that any of them will require special arrangements to gain security clearance, is there? Did you remember that embarrassment when you reflected on these stories?

You continue to disregard the actual language of the law.  I LIKE mail-in balloting.  I LIKE being away from the public while counting vote even if the door is locked and I have to ask to open it to pee).

Beerman:  Read below.  Carefully.

1 and HB 3 prohibit local election officials from sending unsolicited applications to request a mail-in ballot, with the House version making it a state jail felony. Both bills also prohibit the use of public funds “to facilitate” the unsolicited distribution of applications by third-parties, which would keep counties from also providing applications to local groups helping to get out the vote. Political parties would still be able to send out unsolicited applications on their own dim

I am a registered voter. Why should I have to request an application to apply for a mail-in ballot?  Explain to me how fraud could occur when I receive an application delivered to my mailbox which I can use to ask for a ballot to be sent to me at the same address.  If I wish to vote in person (never again!) I simply tear up the application.  No one else can use it because the ballot has to be delivered to my home address.  Our application can come ONLY from the the county government.  I received several of those crap fake 3rd party application but they didn't come from any governmental entity.  They had no move value than a free pig for Passover.   Texas is an embarrassment to the rest of the country should succeed and be Mexico's "success."  There is simply no need for voter "integrity" laws except modernizing the system to the 21st century - like other 3rd world countries.  They are trying to fulfill a false prophecy that the election was rigged.  Why wasn't it rigged when Republicans won?  If you listen to Fox exclusively, you will be deluded like the soldiers that participated in the Jan. 6 insurrection who come from bases where Fox is piped into common areas and they are forced to listen to it day in and day out.  And look what happens.  Soldiers gone wild at the White House because they don't realize how they are being manipulated.

It's funny how they only complain or try to change the rules in districts that democrats won!

What about the house rebublican members elected? Shouldn't they relinquish their wins if they expect Dems to do so without contention? I doubt they will!

Florida has the governor, the state house and state senate in their control, both national senators are Republican, and Trump took the state.  But yet they still decided to change voting, so it goes beyond that.  They are looking to keep control in areas they won and have.

Republicans are currently engaged in some very undemocratic endeavors relative to voting, partisan observing of elections, managing elections, and the counting and certifying votes. They'd really like to keep their voters believing the lie that the objective is election security...it's not...it's security for the elected to protect them from the whims of the We the People that is expressed through voting.

This is a very real and present threat to our form of government.

Or portray that they are doing something that seems to resonate with their supporters?. Irony.... Anyone?

Using legislation to do something illegal after stacking a system to guarantee the outcome!

I've always noticed the over the top displays we have in this country! Macy's parade, football games with flyovers, national anthems and flag flying with outrage for disrespect compared to other civilized countries. Ours is so much more like a Russia, China or North Korea etc. We just don't do tasteful or muted. Which is why we are so popular!

Magicians displays of distraction? Disneyland etc.

Colosseum? Roman... for the peasants?

I think this grandiosity has brainwashed our perspective and gives credence to insurrections and voter suppression etc! No one sees how insane it is!

Even our goddam Supreme Court Justices has preferences! Religious, Political etc.

Who the hell thinks that it's okay for a judge to have an opinion or a preference? Either be objective or shut up and go home!

We are so out of touch with reality!

Deflection.

Your side, Biden, and you yourself in this thread have said this law is a form of Jim Crow laws.  So, before we can go any further,  you explain to me how the proposed law is a form of Jim Crow.  Tell me how having to fill out a very quick simple application is suppressing anyone's vote.

Apparently you don't understand the provided explanations.  The next step is for you to now articulate what you believe qualifies, in your opinion, as a Jim Crow law.

And since the Trump family can no longer live in New York, seems poor Florida is stuck with them too.  I know that most of the country sees the NYC area as a bastion of limousine, knee-jerk liberals but they understimate the viceral hatred of Trump which was only amplified by the pandemic.  We knew his father and eventually the son.  No possible good could come out of that gene pool.  Mary Trump was spared growing up in the household so was able to come a productive citizen.

The proposed law CLEARLY states that unsolicited applications are considered felonies.  Why should REGISTERED voters not have the right to get an unsolicited application?  You didn't answer a single point that I posted.  They want to pit the urban areas against the rural areas.  How did Wisconsin get away will an obvious ploy to keep Black voters away from the polls?  That could happen in any large city anytime a Republican legislature wants to decrease the numbers of urban voters.  How come there are no proposals to forbid the removal of ballot boxes or mail boxes?  That was the most anti-democratic attempt to suppress voting that I have seen since the Jim Crow laws that had the same objective.

I'm a serial cheater! My entire family is. We all want to win at any cost. Board games are murder in my family. We have a serial Saturday D&D night and you would think barbarians have landed.

But, we don't cheat if we are winning! I think republicans cheat because they are always losing!
