President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Yes, but when you get rid of the BS that the laws are suppressive and racist, there isn't any downside to them,  is there?

Of course there is a downside to reversing or eliminating voting accommodations or improvements that resulted in record voter turnout in one of the safest elections on record.  Can you guess what those downsides might include? That's right, the downsides include erosion of voting access and rights particularly among poor and non-whites.  I bet you didn't consider that when laws are passed which limit voting access it can take YEARS of litigation and effort to get them overturned.  The history of racism in our election system is far from BS and it reflects upon you that you are blind to that reality.

Your side isn't making any kind of argument about what you just asked.

No.  From the President to the MSM and all Dems in between,  are repeating the lie that these types of voting laws are suppressive and racist.  But, when confronted with with is actually in the law as has happened here above, its impossible to keep up that farce.

Yes, I would like to also know this answer.  Please identify which problems, exactly, are being corrected by this rush to create legislation while other problems are being ignored.  Like...how are we going to provide electricity for the next snow storm?  Or, what can we do to protect our citizens from future Covid varients...what will Lambda variant look like when it gets here?  How can we misuse cheap sentiment words like freedom even if we do have to torture our hospital workers for the next surge?  What are we going to do about immigration?  All this whining about the election was rigged just allows elected officials to kick the can down the road regarding more worthy legislation.

Mostly the whining about rigged elections gives the fascists cover as they undermine our democracy.

I'm not going to go and look up the WI law and what was going on. I will go for the easy low hanging fruit though.....was Wisconsin prohibiting  certain races of people from voting?  No....so not comparable to Jim Crow.

We were talking about the proposed Texas law.  The one all Democrats are saying is restrictive and racist, and that Biden says is akin to Jim Crow laws.  You've all but admitted that they are not.

Your spitting out a lot of drivel about Republicans not wanting certain people to vote etc without anything to back it up.

They didn't close down polling places in the burbs....only in the city where the majority of the Black population of Milwaukee lives.  For what other reason would they force the election to be held in April and the CLOSE 175 out of 180 voting sites.  Do you really not see a pattern here?  It isn't drivel and you don't have to know anything about the voting laws in Wisconsin to make a judgement with this kind of bad behavior. " Houston Republicans sue to limit in-person, absentee voting options | The Texas Tribune."  Why did the Republicans target Houston and no other city in Texas?  Which city in Texas has the largest Black vote?

We are not republican idiots who get taken in and grifted by such obvious conmen, it's almost ridiculous! We actually engage our brains. Gaslighting doesn't work on us Beerman! You hang around your peeps so much you can't tell when you are among the logical and sceptical. We even evaluate our own and doesn't automatically agree with everything each other says unless evaluated.

We see charlatans because we didn't take the red pill and instead bought the charlatan xray specs!

It doesn't matter to republicans to deal with real issues evidenced by the fact that they don't even care that their own party has no policies beyond massive grifting and hypocrisy!

Just look at their politicians and count how many are straight up fraudsters!

Did you read the article I linked to?  Harris County, which includes Houston, implemented 24 hour, drive in voting,  etc. and had less turnout then most of Texas.

How racist of you to think that non-whites as well as the poor cant figure out at least one of the many avenues (many of which don't exist in other states, like Deleware) to vote.

I know.  You're a Democrat idiot.  Far worse.

Really? Who are the antivaxxers, insurrectionists, gerrymanderers, voter suppressionists, evangelicals etc etc ? Who is Trump and his cohorts, grifting? Democrats?

Who votes for Matt Gaetz, Bobbert, MTG, Cruz, Gommert etc etc? The list is endless with useless republican politicians who do absolutely nothing for their constituents!

So that's it? Voting is too expensive in those large urban counties?

Isn't it interesting that when voting rights activism reminds people that Texas was one of the states that required monitoring for overtly racist election laws in the past that they might get called a racist by the people promoting those laws...just like you are doing now?

Further, isn't not really an insult for a liberal to be called an idiot by a Trump supporter...I mean Trump supporters idolize an actual idiot, so...

Like I have said before I don't think Republicans hearts are in the right place and want to make voting "more fair".

One of the main targets and themes throughout the Republican lead states making changes is targeting voting by mail or other convenient ways of voting that were particularly used by Democrats.  This is without evidence that this has been abused.

The Florida governor tweeted and bragged at how smooth the election ran and how Florida was a model for the rest of the country.  But yet still felt the need to changes things up in the vote by mail and drop box which were widely used by Democrats.  Since he clearly bragged there was no fraud, what's his agenda then?

It's clear to me where the agenda lies.

I think it's important to expose and call out Republicans for what they are doing in the name of "fairness" and continue to ask for the proof that the election was fraudulent.  But at the end of the day Democrats won't find it all that hard to vote.

It's really not OK for even one eligible citizen to have trouble voting because a republican changed a law. All votes matter.

It's difficult to imagine a scenario In which a eligible citizen would have trouble voting under the new law.

On another topic, a ridiculous meme in another thread reminded me of this story I heard awhile back.
