Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.
I suspect they've been covering for longer than a few months.
"No, the greatest loser is the media, specifically elite news organizations like the New York Times that have teams of reporters covering the White House. These teams either entirely missed Biden's sharp cognitive decline - or, worse, actively covered it up."

Tweety said:Sometimes the right and painful decision may not be what others would call wise. My parents thought it unwise when I moved to Atlanta and left college in North Carolina, but it worked out in the long run. If he loses his, legacy will be one of an old man a debate. Debates surely don't make a difference in most elections, but this isn't a normal election and this debate was different.
But I also get it. If he drops out and another candidate loses, he bears the brunt of being a drop out and letting his country down. There's the huge question of who should run as President in his place and can they beat the formidable Trump.
I think he also knows that even those of us that want him out will vote for him over Trump. I will because I'm voting for Harris.
There's already talk not only of an alternative candidate but who will be that candidates VP. Nothing is off the table right now.
It's definitely not wise to dump the incumbent president a few months before we vote to prevent Trump from gaining the power of the presidency again. The best suited person to replace Biden is Harris and he doesn't need to step aside before the election for that to happen.
Yes, there's lots of irresponsible talk and speculation about it in what we would normally call responsible press.
Biden and his team are fully capable of running this country and they have my vote and my assistance with phone banks and outreach.
Beerman said:You got the memo to start crowimg about Project 2025.
Project 2025 calls for abolishing the Dept of Education. I don't know the details, but at face value that isn't something I'd be in favor of.
Trump didn't want to abolish or dismantle it. He wanted to combine it with the Dept of Labor.
Nothing too radical, per this article. Seems worthy of consideration, at least. What were your objections?
I think you just showed us that a vote for Trump does not equal a vote for Project 2025. Nice job!
No, I didn't get any memo. I read lots of right wing content and the authors are pretty proud of that content, they've been talking about it for awhile.
I know what they wanted. I watched their cabinet meeting where they laid some of the plan out and I posted about it on this platform at the time. Trump wanted education to be primarily focused upon training the labor force, not general education of the masses.
Trump will absolutely delegate most of that implementation of the transition as laid out in the Project and there's little to prevent its realization. They will do the things and wait to see if the courts will make them stop but the damage will have been done. That's how fascists and authoritarians roll.
You don't get to vote for Project 2025. That's already decided and will be implemented if you elect Trump. They didn't ask your opinion, they're telling you a cleaned up and public version of their intentions and even those are brow raising in a democracy.

Another opinion from the network who lied to you about the 2020 election to benefit the guy who tried to overthrow the results. Oh boy...
Beerman said:Then he should be able to be defeated by someone else.
We're not going to find out because he's going to lose to Biden again, only this time he will lose to the guy that he says is so demented he doesn't know where he is. That's going to be humiliating for the narcissist.
Beerman said:Not dishonest at all.
You said you don't think of illegal immigrants as criminals. You're not for any kind of detention. You think they should be released into the country to work.
Those are things you've said.
I'm going to assume (correct me if I'm wrong) once they're here for awhile working, get married, kids, etc. you'll want amnesty for them.
As far as I can tell, you don't want to stop people from coming illegally.
Sounds llike a open border policy to me.
Correct, I think of them as immigrants, people making great sacrifice in an attempt to have better lives. I didn't say or imply that I'm against any or all kinds of detention. Yes, I believe that the vast majority of the immigrants just want to get to work building their new lives in our American capitalist society. I think that is good for our economy. So, no, those were not all things I've said, they are your characterizations of what I've said.
Yes, if our system is so broken that people can spend years living and working in this country, following our laws and paying into our tax system without securing a viable pathway to permanent residence or citizenship, then CONGRESS SHOULD FIX IT, not campaign on blaming someone else. No, we should not be threatening to deport millions of people because we refuse to make our immigration system functional. Those type of threats are very disruptive.
None of that sounds like open border policy to me.

You changed the conversation. What do you do with people who are entering illegally today?

Trump's humiliation is really what's important , isn't it?

You could of course read the NYT article the writer mentioned, then add your opinion.

I'm sorry. Where when did Trump endorse this ?

What do you say to the people who immigrate to the US legaly? Who went through the process and waited?
How would you vet these illegal immigrants you wish to allow over a open border?
How long would they need government subsidies before they get these jobs?

Sometimes the right and painful decision is wise as well. It's not just "pundits and talking heads" but yes they are having a field day, reasonable press and people like myself are talking about it.
