Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.
"President Joe Biden's White House repeatedly and aggressively shot down reports on the president's age and any possible limitations on his ability to perform all the duties of his office. But after his shaky debate performance last week, in which Biden routinely struggled to get his point across, some in the White House press corps say they wish they had pushed harder to tell the story."

Many of us outsiders saw it too.

Unfortunately, you have on several occasions said there was no evidence of any cognitive decline of Joe Biden.
toomuchbaloney said:Sure. Biden is old. Jet lag and a URI can definitely affect performance for even younger people.
God help the USA and the rest of the world if he has to make a high pressure decision while he has a cold. Or in the weeks following a long trip in his flying White House.

I saw the terrible debate and then I've watched him speak since. Biden is old but he's proven himself stable and effective.
God help the USA if Trump is again elevated to the presidency when he has been clear about his intentions and he's already demonstrated that he's not an effective leader and he doesn't t value our alliances as much as he values friendship with despots. We have every indication that Biden would make a fact based decision if he has a cold or is traveling because in the debate he used fact based answers. His opponent, however, based upon his debate performance, would meet such a challenge with emotional fabrications and false proclamations regardless of jet lag or URI. He's dependably dishonest and corrupt.
You haven't said what parts of Project 2025 you think are a good idea. You'll be voting for it, let's talk about the good parts.
Beerman said:I don't think that treating illegal immigrants as criminals means that a Trump presidency is bad for minorities.
Same with your imagined travesties against transsexuals.
That was quite an answer on climate change. To summarize, no you don't have any evidence that climate change initiatives will stop climate change.
Of course you don't.
Should we detain all people guilty of misdemeanors now?
When Americans see illegal immigrants, not people, then emotionally abusing illegal immigrant children and families isn't the same as it would be if those children were citizens of this country. That must be it, right?
Maybe you forgot that Trump wanted to end TPS and DACA. Isn't it curious that a guy who says crazy and untrue things about marginalized groups and minorities also got to preside over some of the highest rates of hate crimes against those marginalized groups and minorities in our lifetime? What a coincidence, eh?

From what I've read of it there is some good in Project 2025, but overall it's to radical for my taste.
I know in the last week Democrats have been vocal about it and have used it as a rallying cry. Apparently, you got the memo.
We can debate its pluses and minuses when I hear Trump and other Relublicans start endorsing it on the campaign trail, in interviews, in debates, etc.

Yes we should detain those who entered illiegally. Its a great deterrent. We do hold people in jail for other (not all) misdemeanors. Usually they are provided a option to post a bond. Some Jan 6 rioters were held for trespassing charges.
And, it's only a misdemeanor the first time. Repeat offending is a felony.
Illegal immigrants all had the opportunity to come by legal means. They use up resources that is unsustainable and clog up the system that impacts those immigrating legally. They are criminals.
I'm not sure that hate crimes can be blamed on the president. And, there are a lot of variables that effect the data. But, if you want to play that way, hate crimes have increased dramatically under Biden's watch.

The Republicans don't have an official platformfor anyone to hear. Trump didn't have a platform the last time...guess he thought he'd win on his looks. You won't be hearing any ideas from the Republicans. Only whining about how awful life is in the USA now and it's ALL Biden's fault. Hey, you know what? Everyone has the opportunity to graduate from high school. You didn't? Not my problem. Now, I can understand that there are circumstances (but not many) that people are in holes they can't get out of. However, we all have the opportunity to read skeptically and to educate ourselves all our lives. And yet, look at the highly educated nut jobs who side with Trump. Nope, no way gonna align myself with those people. I'll grind my teeth over the uber progressives before I'd vote for Hitler-lite.

I doubt that anything will convince you that climate change initiatives will reverse climate change. You probably want to see the results of a double blind, randomized prospective study conducted over 20 years.
You do you, but I'll go with the scientists .
it's always seemed ironic to me that so-called conservatives aren't fans of conservation.

I've pretty much read that they won't reverse climate change because it's too little too late and will cost trillions for the entire world to become carbon neutral at the same time and that's not going to happen.
That being said, I wish people would believe the science and go with some initiatives from the biggest polluters rather than just ignore and continue to destroy the world. Like any financial investor will tell you, if you just do a little bit over time you're going to see some rewards. At the very least not make the situation worse or slow it down some.

Let's keep in mind this conversation was brought up in the context of voting for candidates who "believe in climate change".
No, not against conservation or green energy. However, in absence of any evidence that we need to act drastically today, I'm only willing to sacrifice so much (as most of us), and don't see it as a voting issue. Especially when many politicians don't know what they're doing and/or are hypocritical in regards to the issue.

I agree.

What memo?
Yes, the right wing extremism from the Republican political party is radical and unpopular, but they're sure that people will vote for it.
We could debate some of the plusses of Protect 2025 now because some of them were on Trump's original agenda. Dismantling our department of education for instance. Maybe you recall that Trump and Mulvaney and DeVos intended to make the department of education a subdivision of the department of Labor, to train the workforce as a primary goal.

Well, you omitted some context.
Anyway, I'm more than happy to apologize if I'm wrong.
