Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

America's misunderstood border crisis, in 8 charts
Under the Trump administration, most migrants arriving at the southern border were from Central America's "Northern Triangle”: Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.
In the last few years, however, the number of migrants coming from those countries has been eclipsed by those coming from South America — particularly Venezuela, Colombia, and Nicaragua — and the Caribbean, including Haiti and Cuba. They have been driven out by recent compounding political and economic crises and natural disasters in their home countries....
Migrants are increasingly coming from much more far-flung areas of the world. Migrants from China are among the fastest-growing populations at the southern border. There is also rising migration from India and Europe. Smugglers at the southern border have started marketing their services to these populations in a bid to expand their business.
Some countries generating large numbers of migrants, like Venezuela, Cuba, and China, have refused to receive more than a few, if any, of their citizens whom the US wants to deport.

There is no debate. It was a bill to either get more funding for Ukraine or the default, of making Republicans look like they don't want a border solution. Theater. They knew that bill would never pass. LOL
A normal republican... you know, like Liz Cheney.
Yes. House Republicans are all about a Trump political theater. Have you seen their counter programming this week? It would be laughable if they weren't so obviously dysfunctional and incapable of governing at our expense.
Trying to gas light me about what happened with the legislation isn't going to work. That's pathetic and trollish on your part but not surprising.

Unfortunately, he failed miserably.
Nah, you managed to completely miss the point of the point of ignoring Trump's cruel border policy. That's pretty typical.

It wasn't cruel. Elements of it were mismanaged, and need to be implemented better next time.

For all the attention on the border, the root causes of migration and the most promising solutions to the US's broken immigration system are often overlooked.
Fixing the immigration system is a seperate issue and discussion of it is simply a deflection from the border crisis.
Border security and stopping the record numbers of those entering illegally and being released into the country is our most acute problem.
On day one of office, Biden rolled out the welcome mat. In his first few months, he signaled to the rest of the world that the opportunity to come here and stay has never been better.
Thr record numbers arriving from various countries is the result of Biden's policies.

In your opinion it wasn't cruel. I bet the children separated from their families before getting sent off to new American families found it cruel. The cries of the toddlers made it seem cruel. Apparently Trump supporters are only concerned about some children some of the time.

Hahaha
Immigration policy discussion is a deflection from the topic of the border only for people with simplistic political views of Immigration and border control. You just now couldn't even seperate them.
What a hoot.

It's not ideal, and was mismanaged.
And, parents deserve some of that blame for their actions that put them in the situation.
Like I said, Biden has 3 1/2 years to do something better. And has failed.
Incentivizing people to walk hundreds or thousands of miles is also a form of cruelty. Or, how about sending children with strangers?
The gaslighting attempts here have been growing more obvious and desperate.

As far as what happens to those who show up at the border, either at legal ports of entry or crossing illegally, what exactly do you think needs to be changed about our current laws?
Beerman said:If your point is that Biden had a golden opportunity to handle illegal immigration better than Trump did, I agree.

There's this pesky little thing called 8 U.S. Code 1158 - Asylum Code that prohibits asylum seekers from being deported. This cannot be overruled by executive order . A federal appeals court denied Biden's attempt to control asylum crossings:
CNN —
A federal judge on Tuesday blocked President Joe Biden's controversial asylum policy, delivering a major blow to the administration, which has leaned on the measure to drive down border crossings. The judge put the ruling on hold for 14 days for a possible appeal.....Tigar's ruling stems from a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union among other immigrant rights groups over a new asylum rule that largely bars migrants who passed through another country from seeking asylum in the United States, marking a departure from decades-long protocol.
And the last insult was the Republicans attempting to conflate US aid to Ukraine as something akin to our asylum problems. They had a chance to participate in moving forward with reform but chose the stoppage of money to Ukraine as more important. And, of course, we have since sent more aid to Ukraine since their little snit hissy. These issues are separate and deserve equal attention in their own right. This was just Republican grandstanding for no logical reason.

Sure, sure... the parents are too blame for the intentional cruelty of the Trump administration.
Yes, even the cruelty was mismanaged. I know, it's hard to imagine.
Republican voices over the last 4 years, have been the loudest voices proviso l proclaiming that the southern border is open. They are also the group who refuse to work with the sitting president to provide needed legislative improvements. It's so much easier to just pub it at Biden than to do the hard work of finding common ground.
Biden is willing to find common ground. Your guy shut down the government once in a little hissy fit, even after getting what he wanted. It's such an easy choice when comparing the two men. Biden has character and understands and respects the role of government. His opponent is a corrupt liar who already tried once to break our constitution. Easy choice.

I think the recent bipartisan legislation was a good step in the right direction. Republicans chose to stand in place and complain while doing nothing. You supported that refusal to consider the Senate bill, right?

Liz Cheney loool. Last I heard she not a republican or even a politician anymore.
