Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

Of course they are going to tell you that any regulation is "draconian" and other blah, blah, blah. These guys don't want to lose their private jets and huge mansions in Houston AT ANY COST to the American citizens.. Of course we need oil and gas but we surely don't need as much as we consume. When they got the lead outof gasoline, the air in California cleared up dramatically and quickly. Cleaner air equals a cooler climate. The PR spin of the oil and gas PAC's come from people who have become so brainwashed to deny, deny, deny is their ony tactic. Their appeasemant is about as useful as Neville Chamberlain's. We need to move out of the 21st century and stop clinging to the 19th.
Well, the NYT says the new regs are a "death blow" to coal.
"Taken together, the regulations could deliver a death blow in the United States to coal, the fuel that powered the country for much of the last century but has caused global environmental damage. When burned, coal emits more carbon dioxide than any other fuel source."

And, the there is the unintended consequences that even some Democrats are concerned about.

Who believes that? I call BS.
The NYT says that Biden believes it.
Perhaps they are simply spreading propaganda.
"The new rules regarding power plants come weeks after the administration's other major climate regulations to limit emissions from cars and large trucks in a way that is designed to speed the adoption of electric vehicles. Transportation and electric power are the two largest sources in the United States of the carbon pollution that is driving climate change.
President Biden wants to cut that pollution by about 50 percent from 2005 levels by the end of this decade, and to eliminate emissions from the power sector by 2035."

Thankfully, in 2024 we no longer need to use horse and buggys or stagecoaches to travel like my grandparents did.
Have you ever taken care of those with Coal Worker's Pneumoconiosis (Black Lung Disease). I have had it severely limits a coal miners life. Suspect that's what my Scranton PA coalminer great grandfather had.
QuoteBlack lung disease is a serious lung condition caused by inhaling coal dust over time. Learn how to recognize the signs, get diagnosed and manage the symptoms of this occupational lung disease that affects coal miners.
Since there are so many other forms of fuel these days, coal mining should be gradually phased out like stage coaches.

He didn't have BLD, but one of the first patients I had as a student nurse spent his working life as a coal miner. It was the first time he'd been in the hospital. I met him on his 90th birthday.
Anyway, I'll put you down in the eliminate fossil fuels at all costs column.
QuoteThe air quality issue is hamstrung by the mistaken belief that pollution must be reduced to zero at all costs.
@Beerman This is the quote I called BS on. Clearly, it's not the same as Biden setting a goal. I'm sure everyone recognizes that the disqualifying editorial "at all costs" is not a sentiment found in Biden's remarks or policy. You might believe that, but you can't assign that to Biden.

I may be wrong but isn't 50% half of 100?:) Canada has been using electric machinery for ore mining since 2012 so there's no reason to believe that the most polluting vehicles could be electric by 2035. If we could eliminate oil and fas PAC's in DC, it would be done. It's a no brainer. America is behind the rest of the world in energ yproduction. Now if we could figure out how to get birth control into the water supply.......

Really? Not one reason you can think of that most vehicles couldn't be electric by 2035?
Lets start with, where do you think all that additional electricity is going to come from?
BTW, gradually replacing a minority of mining equipment in Canada over the last 10 years isn't quite the same as replacing most of the automobiles in the US in the next 10.

I qualified my statement by the words "most polluting". No, I do not believe that we will be able to provide enough electricity for ALL vehicles. If you remember from my previous posts, I was in favor of going through a hybrid period rather than 100% electric because we don't have the infrastructure yet to do that.
Lying to mislead the public. Seems he's trying to influence the election...

Fox Business no longer is devoted to stories of what's going on in the world of business. Every story is a partisan hack job. Stuart Varney and Money Honey are suffering.from the RFK brain worm...they have lost any semblance of credibility. I'm looking forward to the Smartmatic case hoping it will put them out of business. Now that's a great business story.
