Passionate, feisty, focused and loud, President Biden drew a sharp contrast between his administration's accomplishments and priorities and those of his Republican "predesseror"  -- verbiage repeated throughout his speech about a dozen times..  

Comments that struck me:

• "History is watching...Just like history watched three years ago on Jan. 6 when insurrectionists stormed this very Capitol and placed a dagger to the throat of American democracy." My predecessor and some of you here seek to bury the truth of January 6th,. "I will not do that.”
• "Here's the simple truth: you can't love your country only when you win"
• ·       The Supreme Court majority wrote the following, and with all due respect, justices -- 'Women are not without electoral or political power; You're about to realize just how much you were right about that"
• Pressuring the GOP on Ukraine and the Border policy bill comments  riled up Republicans as Biden listed what the bill would accomplish, and who had supported it, boos erupted. "Oh, you don't like that bill, huh? That conservatives got together and said was a good bill? I'll be darned, that's amazing"
• U.S. military to establish a temporary port along the coast of Gaza in the coming weeks capable to receiving large ships with food, water, medicine and temporary shelters – expected 4+weeks to construct

At the end of the speech, MSNBC announced President Biden is holding a campaign rally at a Delco middle school the day after the State of the Union.   Seeing he was appearing in my county, decided to attend.    After introduction by Dr. Jill Biden  + his Philly jokes, he repeated the same themes to a standing crowd of about 500 supporters as Palestinian protestors were outside.  In addition to seeing him, secret service staff encouraged me to go upfront to stage and was able to shake his hand,  thank him for his healthcare policies, encouraging him to remain feisty.

Continuing to do telephone calls to "get out the vote" for non-registered voters along with both parties reminding them they can check online at vote.org or  Voterizer.org to confirm voter registration, register or see  voter ballot.

 

His speech was so...presidential!  Trump couldn't even create a single sentence to remind us what we could be if we could just have a society that  behaved better:)

Gotcha.  Yes, it's not a good time for women now.  I can remember when married women couldn't get a credit card in her own name.  Despite the fact that things are different, the most important issue of body autonomy,  changed  hasn't at all.  At least women don't have to fly to Sweden any more.  I remember being in  GYN unit in the late 70's, the stench of infections from botched illegal abortions.

It's purposeful over the top wokeness for the idiots that he knows will be against him and his legions of supporters that praise his wokeness.   He's not an idiot, he knows exactly who he's talking to and what he's saying.  Like a lot of "devout Catholics" he makes his own decisions, such as those who take birth control.  He knows that has as President all citizens deserve recognition and respect regardless of his religion and regardless of the day.  

People have long criticized him for being a Catholic and supporting abortion and LGBT issues to name a few.  

He didn't pick the day.  It's international.   Transgender Visibility Day just happens to fall on Easter this year.  

I love that a President acknowledges it especially since Transgendered persons have been under the wrath of the right the past few years.

It did.  Bible salesman Christian Trump calls it "blasphemous".  But it was okay for him to post video on his Truth Social platform that featured an image of Biden hog-tied, as if he were being kidnapped.

SOTH Johnson says "outrageous and abhorrent".  

Republicans are calling it an assault on Christianity.  Those poor Christians always going through such things.

My mistake.

It's interesting that you didn't have similar issues with the republican candidate hawking a $59 Bible during Holy Week. That choice of timing WAS decided by team Trump.

Our right wing neighbors are constantly bombarded with conspiracy theory and fabricated nonsense in their preferred media and social media outlets.  What isn't straight up untrue is often so affected by misrepresentation and spin that we have little shared truth these days, especially as related to politics.  Just consider the number of them who believe things that we all know are lies about the 2020 election.
