President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Nice job, President Trump!

Have you listened to his speeches throughout his nearly 50 years serving in various elected offices?

His reputation for a tendency to be verbally gaffe-prone became a thing decades ago.  There were a lot of people who openly fretted about that when Obama picked him as his running mate.  In 8 years, I can't remember any incident widely reported.

Speaking of that, how can anyone take this seriously when he was "a heartbeat away from the presidency" for those 8 years. Under the circumstances, it seems likely that if he were exhibiting signs of congnitive impairment, all those concerned democrats and foreign leaders might have brought it up.

The vast majority of the president's activity occurs away from the cameras. Those activities require attention, concentration and stamina. Those are the things that matter.

Biden isn't the first president to be mischaracterized like that. Gerald Ford was a skilled athlete, not a klutz. George HW Bush risked his life as a 20 year-old WW2 pilot, he was not a wimp. Yet, many people likely believed that bs.

I don't feel much need to debate this.   You'll see, or not see, what you wish.

I'll be proven right soon enough.

To be honest that's why I like the old bugger. He's real. He says his stuff without the political correctness which I hate ever so much. Say what's on your mind and let the recipient either adapt or ignore you. I want to know if you are a snake so I know where I stand.

He reminds me of my Scottish grandad. In no uncertain terms he will let you know what's on his mind and he also never hold grudges. He will meet my Hispanic, Black and Gay friends and call them the most impolitic names while buying them a pint and inviting them over to his house in Scotland anytime they feel like, until he's reminded that my gran might have something to say about it. She's Irish and atypical. She takes no guff. That's the kind of people I like. Blunt and without guile!

"MSNBC host Joe Scarborough faulted the Biden administration at then end of his "Morning Joe" program on Tuesday for a "permissive" border message that was leading to a surge of immigrants."

Hahahaha

Imagine refusing to acknowledge Trump's word salad ranting, racism and dishonesty only to attempt to lecture others on willful ignorance and blindness.  Imagine wanting only credit for Trump and nothing but criticism for Biden as the basis of every post and then feeling that you are the person to tell everyone else how to be open minded and make accurate assessments of character or integrity.

Even broken clocks are "right" a couple times a day so I'm certain that you will intermittently found yourself right about something. I'm confident that you hold and maintain a pretty deluded view of who Trump is or what he's done so I'm not too worried.  I mean, do you think that Democrats are going to start getting locked up still? Do you think that Hillary is going to jail? Do you believe his lies.

Meanwhile, Biden is creating a team to reestablish the immigration and refugee  pathways and programming that Trump and his sycophants destroyed during their terrible tenure. Biden is not going to treat immigrants with the same sociopathic disregard for others like Trump. Republicans clearly don't like that removal of cruel treatment of children as a deterrent and so we will hear nothing but crap about the border for awhile...until the propaganda turns to something else.

We were all prepared for Trump supporters to whine incessantly about Trump's loss.  I don't think we really expected you all to excuse sedition and insurrection.

The country is simply going to struggle to deal with the sheer volume of delusion and disregard for the Democratic processes that Trump love has inspired. The knee jerk reaction of angry Trump voters will allow their elected officials to regulate voting right down to an exercise necessary for only a few select people...just a few will be needed to decide who is in control...all because Trumpers can't tell lies from truth.

It's not clear that our republic will survive this republican love affair with lies and fascism.

I don't view Biden this way at all.  I see him as being at least moderately politically correct.  Being politically correct is often viewed as a negative trait, and Trump made it a point to say he wasn't politically correct.   In my mind being political correct is just being respectful and aware of other persons point of view.  Biden I think does this well, and when he doesn't and is a called out on it, takes the time to consider other's point of view and offers apologies.  This is maturity.

Saying what's on your mind without a filter is what Trump did and I don't think that's an admirable trait.  But I guess at least you know where some stands, as a racist, homophobe, ethnocentric or misogynist.

This has already been established and discussed that soon after Biden won the election a surge happened, and Bidens actions are responsible.  But I also think that the fact that he's not Trump is a factor.  Any Democrat probably would have caused a surge.

There's also some exaggeration going on back and forth.

Reporters are criticizing Biden's lack of transparency.

Tweets dearie, I just said he reminds me of my Grandad. Surely you don't think a retired Scottish engineer who worked the dockyards is comparable to the President of the United States? Not only are they educationally different but culturally as well. I just meant that they were tall, older gentlemen with white hair who likes pooches and the ladies when they can get away with it until their wives locks them out of the house for coming home drunk ???. He's a real bugger my Grandad.

Older Scottish and basically northern British people are very opinionated and insensitive because they grew up that way and have thicker skins. Also I find it incredibly INSULTING that you would compare Joe Biden to Trump!

Biden is educated, accepts scientific data, is not a grifting criminal, dedicated to the country and ethically and morally sound. And, I think if you have been listening lately, Biden is beginning to speak his mind both verbally re Putin eg and politically.

My Da will be chuffed that you felt he was in the same league as Biden???

Okay, well I didn't mean to compare the two like that other than you implied they both aren't politically correct and I don't see him that way.  I'll let it go as I stated my opinion on my respect for the politically correct.

Having been bullied and hurled insults by those that aren't politically correct I've grown very thick skin.  It takes extremely thick skin to walk down the halls of a high school being yelled at, laughed at and spit at by those whom are very opinionated and insensitive to others feelings.

Don't call me "Tweety dearie".  I'm a 61 year old gay man and no one's "dearie" but my long gone grandmother.  LOL

Sorry, but how would I know what you are. I actually thought you were a 30 something lesbian but I honestly don't care what you are. Won't happen again. Good for you by the way.

I have some sort of defective psyche, insults have never ever bothered me. I've been 6'4" since about 15 and have suffered much abuse myself except I'm too thick to know I was being abused or even cared. I'm way too selfish to be distracted from pursuing girls, playing sports and partying.

Each to their own, eh Tweety?

What does that have to do with Joe Biden?

It has to do with your insistence in assessing Biden's mental capacity after seemingly being completely unfazed by the routinely and increasingly abnormal behavior and speech patterns of the previous president.  It has to do with the fact that your concern about presidential capacity appears completely misplaced and contrived within right wing propaganda outlets.

But you likely know that already.
