President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Interesting,  maybe.  Definitely irrelevant.  Simply deflection from the fact that the mental capacity of our President is in decline.

LOL

It's a deflection from your opinion that the mental capacity of the president is in decline.  However, there is zero evidence that you possess any credible expertise to question mental capacity or evidence of decline.  In fact, very recently you've been completely unable to recognize unacceptable or alarming speech, behavior or intentions from a sitting president.  That makes your new found interest and concern appear as emotional but predictable response to the right wing propaganda that wants to keep republican voters agitated about Joe Biden.  You make these statements as if they are facts in evidence. It's amusing.

Let's not even consider that you offered no evidence that the president's mental capacity is in decline.  But, yeah, I deflected away from the narrative banging around that echo chamber...I guess.

The concern should be that our current president's mental acuity is in decline.   Not the first time he's referred to Harris as president.   And he's fumbled other names recently, his wife finished sentences, etc.

For those who put the blame on his stuttering, go back and look at speeches he's made in the past.

Folks here seem unable to concede that this is a concern.  I'd bet my paycheck that other world leaders are certainly keeping a eye on this.  And even those in the Democratic party are too, even if they don't publicly acknowledge it.

Not sure if you heard, but the "Joe has dementia" strategy, first publicly disclosed by the Trump campaign in March 2020, by September had clearly backfired. From Trump State Media, no less!

Fox News Poll Shows Americans Saying Biden Is More Mentally Sound Than Trump to Serve as President

The total joke Trump campaign was forced to resort to wild speculation about cognition enhancing drug abuse after alert and oriented Biden trounced Trump in their first debate.

Finally, If there had been any actual truth underlying the dedicated smear campaign, his total joke of a campaign woudn't have repeatedly posted laughably clumsy manipulated media. Here's an example:

Trump campaign: Biden says we can only re-elect Donald Trump!

Actual quote: “We can only re-elect Donald Trump if, in fact, we get engaged in this circular firing squad here. It’s got to be a positive campaign, so join us.”

Cutting him off mid-sentence when there's video of the whole sentence? That's like pre-school level propaganda. I can only speculate that Roger Stone, the real disinformation pro was in jail or busy lying to the FBI at the time.

I don't remember the episode above.

Regardless, anyone can observe his various public appearances, and gaffes, over the past year in comparison to those when he was vice president and earlier and see he isn't as sharp as he once was.

LOL

That's funny...anyone can, huh? But especially the people who could see no lying, garbled speech or disqualifying dishonesty in the previous president....THOSE people are now expert at making these assessments and their new found concerns must be taken seriously, right? A miracle must have occurred to restore that discernment, right?

It reminds me of the mother of the kid in the ER and then PICU who kept insisting that her child had a life threatening health condition.  She had lots of people convinced.  Reality and cameras revealed something quite different. That's the problem with suggesting that we should be more worried about Biden than you were about Trump...reality and cameras tell us a much different story than the one you are pushing.

If you describe someone as sharp, you are praising them because they are quick to notice, hear, understand, or react to things ---

Well this interview meets or exceeds this description.

Sharing his Irish pride with his Shamrock in lapel and the green Shamrock bowl sent by the Irish Ambassador Taoiseach, President Biden seems pretty clear in his speech, discussion and commentary.    My 50% Irish sons didn't get Irish soda bread this year as sick Wednesday, will make today-- Chef son did make flavorful Corned Beef and Colcannon Potatoes.

Twelve minutes of discussion here:

Biden, Irish PM hold annual St. Patrick's Day meeting virtually

Quote

President Joe Biden's Irish pride certainly showed during his first St. Patrick's Day as president, as he held a traditional bilateral meeting with the Irish Taoiseach, albeit virtually due to COVID-19.

"My friends from Ireland would always say, 'the American Irish think they’re more Irish than the Irish.' But the truth of the matter is that we have a great affection for the country and a great affection for the tradition," Biden joked, sporting a green tie and shamrocks on his lapel in the Oval Office

President Obama also had Irish roots. The president's maternal great, great grandfather emigrated to America in the 1850s.  Ireland dedicated a highway service station to former US President Barack Obama.  Sure President Biden will be honored.

Really don't care if he's struck dumb or cofeve??? or he's in a wheelchair or gets BJs, my investment in him, is to resolve the issues left by the rapist who just left.

I didn't vote for a role model. To make an omelet, you have to break eggs. People seem to want a Saint in office and a killer making hard choices and Father Christmas to solve their problems. I would like a man who's not ethically and morally challenged, who knows how govt works and is intelligent enough to pick the right people to help him accomplish his goals.

Biden seems to have those qualities!

I think Biden stumbles actually reinforced just how fit he is actually!

Did you see how quickly he got up and very little fragility when he finished climbing the remaining steps? I was very impressed especially with his age. Old dude is strong!

My mother always made a soda bread for dinner and Kerry Gold on the table. Soda bread toast is heavenly! Her mother is from Wexford and they have a farm. IMO Irish food is the best! The lamb and pork chops and just plain boiled potatoes! Paddies got it going on ?????❤️! Brits corner the market with their Sunday Roast dinners though!!

Have you listened to his speeches throughout his nearly 50 years serving in various elected offices?

His reputation for a tendency to be verbally gaffe-prone became a thing decades ago.  There were a lot of people who openly fretted about that when Obama picked him as his running mate.  In 8 years, I can't remember any incident widely reported.

Speaking of that, how can anyone take this seriously when he was "a heartbeat away from the presidency" for those 8 years. Under the circumstances, it seems likely that if he were exhibiting signs of congnitive impairment, all those concerned democrats and foreign leaders might have brought it up.

The vast majority of the president's activity occurs away from the cameras. Those activities require attention, concentration and stamina. Those are the things that matter.

Biden isn't the first president to be mischaracterized like that. Gerald Ford was a skilled athlete, not a klutz. George HW Bush risked his life as a 20 year-old WW2 pilot, he was not a wimp. Yet, many people likely believed that bs.
