Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

That's your opinion about other people's feelings. I asked you what you believe the POTUS can do about immigration beyond banning groups from entering. You post often about this issue so it seems likely that you have some ideas about what should be done by the president.

Yes, that is my opinion. Your astute observations never cease to amaze me.
Of course there are things he could do. It's not too hard, really. A middle school student could make a big dent in decreasing the numbers
Biden has made it clear he doesn't care to do anything. The exveption being that he does think it's important that AZ stop placing obstacles in the middle of nowhere in the desert on the border that make it more difficult for illegal aliens to come in.
It seems your position is that the President of the United States is powerless to do anything.
I say he doesn't want to. The result is the same.
2 hours ago, Tweety said:I don't think Democrats are exactly happy with the current situation but don't want a total shut down of the border. Kari Lake campaigned that we need to stop letting "them" in...period. I think that she lost, barely, might speak to this.
I don't see any indication they want to stop it, Except for the ones who are from the area who are hearing from their constituents.
What do you mean by a "total shut down"?
I think you're reading what you want to in Kari Lake's loss. Just is likely she only lost barely and not soundly because of her position on the issue.

As are Republicans. Have they proposed any legislation or suggested some sort of bipartisan workgroup? Now that they are in control Congress I’m sure (sarcasm) they will offer all sorts of solutions.

I asked you to outline one or two of those things that the POTUS can do (unilaterally) to put a dent in the numbers at the border. I'm already aware of your opinion about what you believe he thinks or wants.
My position is that Congress needs to address the clear problems with our immigration system. I've offered some discussion as to what might be considered in terms of reform. Is your position that immigration is a problem that the president must fix? If so, how should the president fix it?

I often respond to your and other's posts about it, but I'm sorry you think that I have any ideas about what the President should do. I'm just sticking mainly to what I see and hear and don't offer much opinion on solutions.
About Lake, it's not my opinion, I heard her say before her loss during the campaign "we have to stop letting them in". What does that mean? She didn't say, so all I can do is speculate. Like some people speculate Democrats want an open border.
You said "A middle school student could make a big dent in decreasing the numbers." but didn't say what.
I do know the situation in El Paso and border communities isn't sustainable. People are sleeping in the streets, shelters are overwhelmed and some predictions are it may get up to 12,000 a day.
QuoteAlejandro N. Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, met in El Paso on Tuesday with Border Patrol managers and local officials amid the escalating arrivals.
“It’s an extraordinarily powerful picture of why we need our immigration system reformed through legislation,” Mr. Mayorkas said in a meeting with local reporters. “Our asylum system is broken. Our immigration system as a whole is broken.”
It's complicated by immigration advocates. They also think he's not doing anything.
I agree it complicated by Biden not doing much or visiting the border for a symbolic show of support.

Okay, I really couldn't find any back up for what Lake said during the campaign, but I do distinctly remember it.
She said this: “Our plan is to not let them come across,” said Lake. “Obviously, if they come in, there will be a bit of processing. We’d like to set up some border courts, similar to in the 1980s when they set up tax courts to deal with just tax issues. We could set up border courts and quickly process people and quickly deport them and get them out.”
Part of the Republican plan apparently is to impeach Department of Homeland Security Mayorkas:
Quote“Secretary Mayorkas has committed high crimes and misdemeanors. His conduct is not incompetent. It is not negligent. It is willful and intentional,”

One of their main tactics right now seems to be to attack Biden and what he's doing.

My comment that you quoted was directed at Beerman. I quoted Beerman in the remark.
