Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

There is the argument that both Obama and Trump left Biden in a bad spot.

Meanwhile Trump is ramping up the rhetoric about the border crises saying that Biden is destroying America. This feeds of course in some the major talking points of conservatives that our country is in danger and that liberals hate America.
I knew he wasn't going away and in Fox News and other conservative press he has a voice.

You want more information on what Trump did specifically after losing the election? Well, besides instigating violence at the WH he's doing what you just posted. Flailing about and creating chaos. Only strategy he knows to approach a problem. I do not see any problem in having him gone. The problem is in his mind, which doesn't work very well.

I was addressing this statement, which I took for talking about immigration policy specifically since that was what we were talking about. I wanted to know what he did to sabotage immigration policy for Biden. But I can see where it's probably meant to be more general. All that other stuff, like intentionally sabotaging democracy, yeah I was here for that.
QuoteBiden didn't break the system, he inherited a system that was intentionally sabotaged. Biden didn't even get to spent months transitioning into that inheritance. Nor did a large swath of his nominees get processed through the Senate before 1/20/21. Biden was handcuffed as much as was possible by the loser of the election.

Yep! President Biden is coming to my county on Tuesday to barnstorm re signed legislation.
C-SPAN coverage for those who missed it. Speech was expected to be 18 minutes--he added off the cuff comments, timed at 26 minutes.
President Biden Addresses Nation on One-Year Anniversary of Coronavirus Pandemic
Quote...Too often, we’ve turned against one another.
A mask — the easiest thing to do to save lives — sometimes it divides us.
States pitted against one other instead of working with each other.
Vicious hate crimes against Asian Americans, who have been attacked, harassed, blamed, and scapegoated. At this very moment, so many of them — our fellow Americans — they’re on the frontlines of this pandemic, trying to save lives, and still — still — they are forced to live in fear for their lives just walking down streets in America. It’s wrong, it’s un-American, and it must stop.
Look, we know what we need to do to beat this virus: Tell the truth. Follow the scientists and the science. Work together. Put trust and faith in our government to fulfill its most important function, which is protecting the American people — no function more important.
We need to remember the government isn’t some foreign force in a distant capital. No, it’s us. All of us. “We the People.” For you and I, that America thrives when we give our hearts, when we turn our hands to common purpose. And right now, my friends, we are doing just that. And I have to say, as your President, I am grateful to you....
Quote...Now I want to talk about the next steps we’re thinking about.
First, tonight, I’m announcing that I will direct all states, tribes, and territories to make all adults — people 18 and over — eligible to be vaccinated no later than May 1.
Let me say that again: All adult Americans will be eligible to get a vaccine no later than May 1. That’s much earlier than expected.
Let me be clear: That doesn’t mean everyone’s going to have that shot immediately, but it means you’ll be able to get in line.
To do this, we’re going to go from a million shots a day that I promised in December, before I was sworn in, to maintaining — beating our current pace of two million shots a day, outpacing the rest of the world.
Secondly, at the time when every adult is eligible in May, we will launch, with our partners, new tools to make it easier for you to find the vaccine and where to get the shot, including a new website that will help you first find the place to get vaccinated and the one nearest you. No more searching day and night for an appointment for you and your loved ones.
Thirdly, with the passage of the American Rescue Plan — and I thank again the House and Senate for passing it — and my announcement last month of a plan to vaccinate teachers and school staff, including bus drivers, we can accelerate the massive, nationwide effort to reopen our schools safely and meet my goal, that I stated at the same time about 100 million shots, of opening the majority of K-8 schools in my first 100 days in office. This is going to be the number one priority of my new Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona.
Fourth, in the coming weeks, we will issue further guidance on what you can and cannot do once fully vaccinated, to lessen the confusion, to keep people safe, and encourage more people to get vaccinated.
And finally, fifth, and maybe most importantly: I promise I will do everything in my power, I will not relent until we beat this virus, but I need you, the American people. I need you. I need every American to do their part. And that’s not hyperbole. I need you....
Quotewe will issue further guidance on what you can and cannot do
Wonder if this snippet will be taken out of context?
Maybe because I live in Florida where there are no restrictions and it's all voluntary that this struck out at me, because people don't like being told by the government what they can and can not do. LOL

And that's why the pandemic exploded and is still out of control in this country. I understand perfectly why people are too selfish to help out anyone else, but to act against their own interests is something I will always ponder. I wonder if would behave the same if it were Ebola.

Others who act against their own self interest do so because they either don't believe in the truth (the truth threatens them and/or angers them) or they believe the truth but want bad things to happen to those they hate. Thus, Trump supporting Q-Crazies, racist, Fascists, and bigots will never make sense.

This is a very long sentence, but I take to mean that guidance will be issued on what people can and can't do to keep safe.
Of course with federalism, and states setting their own guidelines, infection rates and numbers of deaths vary greatly from state to state.
https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/public-health/us-coronavirus-deaths-by-state-July-1.html
Death rate for Florida : 149 per 100,000.
Death rate for Washington State: 68 per 100,000.

I really wasn't meant to be taken too seriously and I certainly don't need any convincing of what he said.
What you're saying though isn't matching the link, unless like the link says it's July's information. But it's been updated of course. Washington has done quite well in the death rate.
The death rates are interesting. New York with some of the toughest restrictions are at the top of the list and Florida with no restrictions is in the bottom half. Interesting because we have so many older people here. California with tougher restrictions is just a few places below. The very bottom consists of states with low populations.
Florida is still having about 5,000 cases a day. With no restrictions and Spring break happening, I hear South Beach is seeing flocks of youngsters maskless without concerns.
I think areas that have denser population areas had/have higher rates and NY was hit hard last year, stretching resources thin and before health care had learned the most effective treatments: proning, dexamethasone, monoclonal antibodies.
And I read an article about how higher humidity ( California versus Florida) can cut down on transmission.
It is awfully hard to compare data between states due to the various reporting systems that each one had to devise. I know the one our state has is always lagging and needing weekly fixes. Didn't a data gather for Florida get fired for accusing DeSantis for hiding some of the numbers on cases and deaths?

Yes that was my point that comparing the death rates in various states needs consideration besides just looking at a number.
Yes there was a whistleblower. She has a $500,000 GoFundMe and is writing a book and just gave an interview to Cosmo. Not sure who to believe, but I tend to believe her that our governor would want to put out favorable data.
Ultimately though quibbling aside, the data about Florida's numbers and death rate don't look good and I think for the most part are reliable.
As a nation, it's been a dreadful year.

I don't disagree that we need to know the specifics of Trump's malfeasance, that will take some time. Meanwhile, there's a pretty clear pattern of behavior in both his personal and political life which demonstrates that Trump is a vindictive, petty and self absorbed bully. He's not accustomed to suffering negative consequences so he doesn't hesitate much to break things or hurt people. This means that all money would be betting that Trump sabotaged as much government function as he could so that his predecessor's job would be that much harder. Then Trump would foster crticism in the echo chamber.
Yeah...the guy that took no responsibility for anything is out in public wanting accountability for others again.
