Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.
QuoteLatest poll trends and the political dynamic in Washington point to a Republican takeover of Congress next year, the thwarting of much of Biden’s agenda, and a failing, one-term presidency. This gloomy scenario may change. Hopefully it will. But the democratic world can only watch America’s unfolding Lear-like drama and, fearing a recurring nightmare in 2024, mutter all-a-tremble: “Please, not Trump again!”
Anyway you look at it, the Biden Presidency is. disaster. Not all his doing but but a mess anyway. His approval rating, which because he wasn't Trump started out real high, has tumbled. 2022 is going to be painful for sure, but really that would be a nightmare if 2024 we got Trump again.
Of course, it's the lead story on Fox News.

Of course it is the lead story on Fox. Fox is primarily engaged in propaganda and political animus as a business model. It's very likely that by the time we get to the 2022 elections, the new Republican laws will guarantee that republicans regain control of the House and Senate and at that point they won't even need an election in 2024 to elevate Trump to the presidency.
We aren't worried about Biden's presidency, we're worried about the ways that republicans are undermining our democracy with lies, conspiracy and corruption.

I hear that they are planning to change the description of losing, to trumping or is that farting ??️?????
It's hard to take seriously anything someone says when the are "ashamed of their own race". Those labels can be applied to BIDEN as well.
As for Trump? We'll see in 2024...

You don't need the news. Shut off the volume and just watch video of the border, Afghanistan.....

The Biden Presidency and the severity of the problems will help out the Republicans.
The effect of the voting laws on the voting public will remain to be seen, as well as the legal challenges against them. In the meantime I think the left wing is exaggerating their effect.
I think Republicans will make gains in 2022 because of Biden. It happened to Obama. Republicans in elections all across the country made unprecedented gains (funny how the voting laws of the time didn't have any evidence of corruption that suddenly occurred in 2020). It happens at midterms and I think midterms will be painful.
I agree that Fox News is a Republican Party tool but Biden is making it easy for him.
The right wing tends to exaggerate things as well. They also tend to switch what outrages them. Suddenly they are concerned about the surge in covid cases that happened because of the Delta variant and blame Biden. Suddenly they are concerned about children at the border. Suddenly they are concerned about the deficit. Suddenly they concerned about voter corruption.
The Afghanistan fiasco, well they got Biden there.
I agree with the article above. Biden must act quickly to improve his situation.

I agree. Biden takes accountability for all of the decisions and choices which come from the office of the presidency. He will suffer politically because of the calamitous times, his actions and missteps and the way all of those are portrayed in the media chosen by the public. There was no good way to get out of Afghanistan just like there was no good reason to be in there nation building in the first place. Yes, his bold and ambitious agenda makes him an easy target, politically. His optimism about bipartisan congressional governance makes him an easy target. He's fighting an uphill battle on all fronts politically and so far, this particular old man seems fairly resolute.
I don't think that the dangers of the type voter and election changes legislated and pursued by republicans today should be minimized. It's important not to ignore the historical context of what's going on. Many of these states have long enjoyed colorful history relative to voting rights and access. In June of this year. Monmouth published a poll that reflects some very dangerous thinking among republican leaning voters. They are believing lies and supporting legislation that directly effects our elections because of lies and propaganda.
QuoteOne-third (32%) of Americans continue to believe that Joe Biden’s victory in 2020 was due to voter fraud – a number that has not budged since the November election. At first glance in the crosstabs, it looks like the number of “Republicans” who believe this has been trending down while the number of independents who agree has ticked up. However, this appears to be a product of a shift in how Republicans identify themselves, with some moving their self-affiliation from being partisan to being an “independent” who leans partisan. When all Republican identifiers and leaners are combined, the number who believe Biden won only because of voter fraud has been fairly stable (63% now, 64% in March, 69% in January, and 66% in November). Furthermore, 14% of the American public say they will never accept Biden as president, including 3 in 10 (29%) Republicans and Republican leaners.
“The continuing efforts to question the validity of last year’s election is deepening the partisan divide in ways that could have long-term consequences for our Democracy, even if most Americans don’t quite see it that way yet,” said Murray.
Bold mine.
Monmouth has a pretty good reputation for getting things right.

If you watched the news on the border, you would be misled that this is a pecularily American problem. If you watched the video of Afghanistan, you might believe that it is a modern country with a modern airport. You'd be wrong both times.

So nothing went wrong with Afghanistan? There isn't a problem at the birder?

Wow. That was all very well said and partial. I can agree with almost all of that!

Do you watch CNN? What is your main source? I'm asking honestly because I would like to see and challenge my own positions.

No. I don't have cable television. I have subscriptions to the WaPo and the NYT and I read Reuters and AP, etc. I do watch the Sunday morning news programming on ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX that's available on either free TV or Youtube. I watch PBS and 60 minutes.
I have time to listen to Press briefings and public remarks when they are available to stream. I often have some very nerdy content streaming in the background as I do my chores...congressional hearings, chamber debate and the like.
I don't get my information from television, radio or social media. I stopped visiting facebook since January 6...it's a hotbed of destructive algorithms and propaganda. I like to read. I've always had a soft spot for nonfiction.

Please tell me how I even intimated that Afghanistan wasn't a fiasco and the border isn't a tragedy. See how you twist things around to give them a completely different meaning? But I don't think it's a simple as blaming one man, Biden, for these failures. You over-simplify and provide no ideas how things could have been done better. What would you do about the border?Would your ideas work for Italy, Spain, Germany, Jordan or any other country experiencing settlement of refugees. Can you give us some big picture ideas here? You've said nothing constructive.

Once you use the "all" you negate everything else in your post with your angry spittle and are just lying. But I have watched the Trump rallies on TV and if you substituted the Nazi flag for the American flag, the groups and the speakers appear very similar. No ideas for problem solving but rather, please the cause of the problems on someone else. They were also intentional superspreaders because he has no empathy for his own followers (and followers those sheep are). Very few "businessmen" are educated in public policy or anything else. I only know that because I spent a year in a graduate business program. Very interesting but nothing of the caliber of knowledge needed to participate in government. If that were true, Trump would probably have been re-elected.
