Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

I can't cite a study but there's an avalanche of anecdotal information indicating the average person who supports Trump's Caligula-like tactics has no idea there's a difference between an undocumented immigrant or migrant and an asylum-seeker.

That low information phenomenon covers a fairly wide variety of topics. We could explore that in another thread.

Who was comforted by this pathetic speech by our leader?

I would say the average citizen in general doesn't know the difference, regardless of their political affiliation.
To he problem is that the system in place for asylum seekers is being abused.

Yes, it is. So don't complain here. Complain to your political representatives to change the rules. The world is slowly becoming more autocratic and making living conditions difficult. We can't take in the world although I wish we could. Your mistake is that you think that people who disagree with you in any way, want to somehow get rid of all immigration barriers which is just another one of your lies. And I watch Judge Judy occasionally just to see what's out there. I agree with Nurse56. Most people have no idea between those terms. But Republicans don't know even more because they just want to go back to the 1950's and keep their hands over their eyes, mouths and ears. Red states don't accept basic middle-school science and are prefectly content having their hospitals overrun with Covid. No, no way those people know the difference between an illegal, an asylum seeker or a dreamer.

I thought he gave a decent speech at a dreadful time and showed leadership. Did I feel "comforted", not necessarily. I rarely have felt "comforted" by a politician during any crisis in my lifetime.
I stopped listening to Shapiro when he said "he looked old and decrepit". I figured the rest of his comments would be just as catty.
I've been offline due to issues with my home cable and wanting to take break, but here I am. ?

Ben S. is such a nasty guy that I have had to dismiss anything he has to say. He isn't here to make the world a better place. He just wants to be in the public eye. I wonder if he and Steven Miller are simpaticos......
I only know a few Biden voters mostly fellow teachers my sister works with and they have really all changed their tune and are wishing Trump was back. It’s amazing when they see this disaster they can brush their rampant sexism and classism aside and accept that we really had a true leader. Biden fumbled Afghanistan so hard and has blood on his hands. Covid is killing more people than ever but Biden/Harris are letting caravans of Covid positive criminals cross the border en masse.

Liberals cower at the site of Ben Shapiro. They can’t stand to be intellectually shut down so hard time and time again with cold hard facts
My social circle is 100% Biden voters as far as I know and not one is turning against Biden over Afghanistan. They understand it was started by a Republican President and the withdrawal was started by a Republican President that kicked the can. Yes, it's an unfortunate mess, and armchair politicians can debate it all day in how it was handled.
I think I'm with a majority that were polled that support the withdrawal but not how it was handled and is turning out.
We also understand that covid is running rampant not because of "covid infected criminals" being allowed into the country but because of the variant that is overwhelming making the unvaccinated sicker and filling up hospitals again particularly in states with low vaccination rates like Alabama.
I'm hard hit Florida (where studies show areas that went for Trump have the lowest vaccination rates) and the governor is taking a hit in approval ratings because our death rate is reaching new highs not even seen in 2020, and about a third of new infections are children, and he's fighting with schools over masks. No one is thinking about Biden in regards to covid here. The double digit rate of positivity here which has bordered on 20% is higher than at the border.
Shaprio's main goal is life is to own liberals. While he's good at being catty, spinning, making conservatives cheer and angry at liberals and he may even be intelligent, he's certainly failed at making liberals cower at his sight. I'm rather sickened by the likes of him.
