I am taking A&P I and II this summer as we speak(5 week back to back sessions), it really is not that bad. I got a B in A&PI because i was naive on the amount of time i thought would have to be put into it, but i am doing way better in A&PII which i am done with at the end of this week. SO if i can do it over the summer anyone can. I never took chemistry, so i do not know about that but i am trying to get into micro next Monday in the last 5 week session.
to the OP---- GOOD LUCK, study hard and you will do good

Any summer course is hard, IMHO. I recommend you keep your book or at least the handouts and notes as all the aforementioned courses are pre-reqs for a reason. Once in nursing school the instructors assume you KNOW that stuff. There will be little or no review. You will learn that reference books come in handy, even out of school. (I have a MSN in nursing education and still use my old texts for reference).

I'm in week 6 of my 8 week Chemistry class. It hasn't been as bad as I'd feared, but then I took principles of chem this spring so I have a background for some of the stuff. I'm sooo thankful for taking that class! We have our 3rd test on Wednesday, then test 4 and the final in 2 weeks. I will be so glad when this class is over and I can put it behind me! Goodluck in your class and study hard!

I'm in my 6th week of Psychology and Human Growth and Development and it's been stressfull. I'm now studying for my finals. But my finals in Human Growth is to finish Chapters 14-19 with answering questions that are re-worded on the quizzes. Psychology will be a breeze. And I'm doing on-line courses. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!

I was wondering if anyone has heard that by taking these shorter classes that you are missing some of the material you would get if the class was a typical semester in length? I am taking microbiology and we did 3 chapters the first week and are doing 2 chapters a week now. I don't think during the regular semester they do this and I can't see any school giving full credit unless the same amount of material is covered during the shorter summer session as is during the "regular" school year. Just curious.
PS The person who said hold onto your books is correct. I had to retake statistics and human growth/development and my previous books were helpful. Even my A&P book has helped some in my micro class.
You have to cover the same amount of material even in the short classes. In some cases you just won't have as much homework, but in most of my short classes we've had the same work that the 16 week classes did - only in a shorter time-frame. I actually took College Algebra and Statistics last year as 1 week classes. The same teacher taught both and she did an amazing job at it. But for each of those weeks I didn't do anything but those classes! Even in my sleep I was doing math! I came out of both with an A. My school has 4 campuses and only 1 offers the 1 week classes. One of the other campuses is trying to get rid of those type of classes because they don't think you can do that much work in 1 week. I feel great about my algebra skills and statistics...well, I understood it at the time and still remember quite a bit of it.

:trout: I feel for you. I just finished my last prereq of advanced human physiology during a 10 week summer course. That was pretty intense. I hope the best for you. If you don't feel you can do it in another week or so, drop it and take it next semester. Maybe you can find someone who has already had that class, perhaps even during the summer, and you can see if they have any notes or ...anything that may help. Attack it head on and live and breath chemistry if you decide to stay and know it will be over shortly.

I just finished day one of a summer session in Chemistry and it ain't pretty. I THOUGHT that getting it out of the way over the summer might be the best way to go because the prof could not possibly cover ALL the material in only 7 weeks. WRONG!!! I know if I can survive this, I can do anything.
The first day and week always stinks...it is very overwhelming. So much to do and so little time. The thing to remember about most summer classes is that they are very accelerated...you have to know about the same amt of stuff in order to get full credit. People don't realize that. I considered taking some of my science classes over the summer and my family, some who had just finished up double majors said "You don't want to do that." And really they were right. I struggled with chemistry during regular session, couldn't imagine it during the summer. Well, if anything, this will be an experience for you and hey...maybe you'll do fine...or maybe you'll say...never again. Good luck!

Hell is about right! I lost all sanity when signing up for summer and ended up taking A & P 2 and micro together in summer 1 (5 weeks), Philosophy in Summer 2 (5 weeks) and History all summer (full 10 weeks). I got an A in A & P 2 and most likely will end up with a B in micro. I was doing great until I had 5 papers, 2 finals, a lab exam and a history test all happen to fall on the same day! Needless to say bombed micro final, but held on in A & P lab exam and final and managed to keep my A. It's tough, but once it's over, it's done!
