Preparing for Anatomy/Physiology 2

Published

Just found out I was the only guy in my class to get an 'A' in human anatomy and physiology. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice to prepare myself for anatomy 2? Most people I know think this stuff is hard, but I think they are just lazy idiots who don't wanna put the time in to study. If anybody has any advice to give me, that would be great. ...and please don't recommend those stupid coloring books. Those things are a waste of money if you ask me.

i'll bite...WOW

*wine

k, i think i've found the words, it goes something like this:

Don't ask for help while insulting people (or advice they might dispense), it really isn't cute. Looks like you have the brains for the books, but lack in the personal relations area.

It sounds like you should just repeat what you did for your first A&P class...after all, you did get an A :)

good luck!

You have answered your own question. If you already earned an A in the first part; what are you worrying about? To inform you; several nurses on this forum including myself had some type of difficulty in A & P. If you dont any responses to this thread I would understand why.

You people crack me up. I'm sorry if I offended anybody by saying I hate the coloring books. GEEZ LOO WEEZ!!!!! Thanks for the 3 comments.

Thanks for that nice comment.

Seriously? You think the coloring book comment was the insulting part of your post?

Even my five year old is smart enough to know that the phrase lazy idiots is unkind, unnecessary and unlikely to win you friends. I suggest working on your people skills if you plan to go into a nursing.

Find out what the book is you will be using and start reading early. I dont see what more you could do to prepare. Its just very time consuming which is the biggest obstacle I see for people. They have jobs and family obligations that prevent them from putting the time in.

Forgive me if I'm off base here, but this post screams "look at me look at me look at me". Are you really interested in advice on how to excel in A&P2 or was the purpose of your post to celebrate that you got an A in A&P1 ?

LOL, chinook2. I was 1 of 3 to get an A in my first A&P class and I never ever thought I was smarter than the people who struggled. Its not about being smart , its all about how much time you have for these classes. I still feel that way in A&P 2.

Well, we didn't ask you..you asked us.

Ok let me get this straight in my old brain. You were the ONLY one to get an A in A&P I :yeah:, you think people who think A&P is hard are just "lazy idiots" who "don't wanna put the time in to study" , you don't want us to recommend the STUPID coloring books AND you want advice ??

Hummm...Well...huuu...how to phrase this as not to get myself band for life. Ok..got it..

I'd say keep on doing whatever it is you did in A&P I, in A&P II. Obviously whatever it is worked. Don't fix what ain't broken.

Lazy idiots..wow..this one I can't even begin to respond to.

And although YOU may find coloring books stupid and a waste of money, there are those students who learn a different way. Some students need just to hear the info, others to see it and those who need both. Why slam a group of people for their learning style and things that make them learn material easier??

Me thinks somebody always has to be the center of attention dancing around saying "look at me!" "look what I can do" "look how super smart and superior to you I am". I honestly cannot think of any other reason BUT this for this post.

I was one of a few people in my A&P 1 class to get an A. From my perspective, I will say, I think there were people in my class who struggled because they didn't study enough, but there were also people who studied their butts off and did poorly because (1) they don't memorize particularly well and (2) they don't know how to best study based on their learning strengths and weaknesses. I think a lot of people lost confidence early on and just kind of bailed out, said they would retake it.

I am a single, full-time working mom of a toddler, and I know I didn't study nearly as much as an older woman in my class, who did poorly in the class. But she needs help learning to study for her learning type, and she needs help learning to take tests, because she had test anxiety. I don't struggle with any of those things and I have very strong memorization abilities. That's what A&P 1 is all about - memorization. So I believe it is ultimately your effort, but it's also your brain and its strengths that contribute to success.

Anyway, to the poster's question - I for one think A&P 2 may be a little easier, because it is more Physiology than Anatomy, right? Maybe it's just me, but it seems like Physiology would be easier because it might involve a little less memorization and more understanding of how systems work - and a lot of that is intuitive based on what you know about the body. I'm looking forward to it. I would think if you did well in A&P 1 that you would also do well in A&P 2, but hey, if you do less than great early on, just do the logical thing - study harder :). Try flash cards, try "teaching" someone what you know about something - I find that helps. Get with another student or even just a family member or friend and teach them about what you're learning. That helps me point out gaps in my understanding and solidifies what I know for sure. Good luck to you.
