Stearnsy, yes i am absolutely sure. Keep in mind that you will see a higher amount taken out for withholdings, however, it's due to them being compounded over 6+ pay periods (hopefully less)

you only jump the tax bracket if you receive "extra" income (i.e. vacation time, bonus, raise (promotion not switching positions), etc) OP won't be getting any of these, as he has changed jobs (within same co) PTO is taxed higher (don't know the technicalities why) but it is.

Wezzie is correct. your tax liability is what it is, they won't take anymore than they would have otherwise. However, if they fail to deliver on their commitment of "up to 3 pay periods" (which by the way sounds like someone dropped the ball on that one) then you can take a more aggressive approach. congrats and best of luck to you :)

I trained OR nurses for over a year and a half (using barcode scanners in the OR to track implants) during that year, I developed a deep respect for nurses, I saw their interactions with the gods...i mean surgeons and their dedication to the patients even when "business processes" seem to get in the way rather than help. It took me 2 years to do soul searching and plenty of research to decide on switching careers. I started taking my pre-reqs this summer and hope to be done in 1.5yrs. Then off to Nursing school God willing. These classes make my business classes look like child's play. Thank you for such an excellent post. P.S. I've spent 12 years working in the healthcare industry all business related. I spent a year and a half supporting case managers (RN) in the home healthcare field. I got to see true compassion through their eyes.

Have you about Doctors Without Borders, it is a humanitarian mission and you get to practice as a nurse. or Perhaps as others have mentioned the Peace Corps might have nursing positions and you can remain active. just

31 (this year) I'm taking my first pre-req as we speak!

I had the same "headache" with my Hep-B series...i kept forgetting to get the follow up shot. We didn't have to restart the series when I forgot the SECOND shot. However, when I forgot the THIRD shot and went back a year later to get it I had to take the SECOND shot then get the THIRD shot. I know this doesn't really answer, just thought I relayed my experience.

This is very true. Some programs have gone as far as NOT accepting students who cannot provide a valid SSN. No sense in having them go through the program if they can't become licensed.

Do not let anyone tell you any different! I've known people who dropped out from HS, were involved in drugs and had to take the GED to complete HS. These folks turned their lives around and got it together. One became a RN and the other is completing her PhD in Marine Biology at UCLA. IF YOU WANT IT, YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN NOW, keep in mind these folks found determination and understood the concept of hard work. Be prepared to work harder than most people that are going to be around you. Surround yourself with people who will respect your decisions and won't apply "peer-pressure" to do things that are not going to help you any. Stay focused and understand it will be a long process and commit to it. I wish you the best of luck

hi everyone, As I begin to review nursing programs, I am having a hard time understanding the ranking OR if there is such thing. I live in Southern CA and have many programs in close proximity. I know I want to go for a BSN, and I've been looking at the following programs: Loma Linda University UCLA CSU Long Beach CSU Los Angeles Azusa Pacific University Mt St. Mary's I've read that programs with a hospital "attached" to them (i.e. UCLA, LOMA LINDA) are the best programs. Is that true? Is there really such a thing as "the best program"? I appreciate your feedback.
