The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club: A&P 2

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi all! Just thought I'd go ahead and start this. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas (or whatever you celebrate!) I'm very much enjoying my family time right now.

Spring semester starts January 5th for me, and I'll be taking A&P 2 and College Algebra. Hope to see lots of you posting here like last semester :)

Hi,

there are classes to become a CNA...they very in length depending on what state you are in, here in Ohio we only need 80 hours so we have 2 week classes from 8-4...usually CNA classes arent too difficult and after you pass you can go and take the state test, after you pass your state test you will be an STNA (state tested nurses aide).

The ranks for nursing:

CNA (completed the class but not state tested)

STNA

LPN

Diploma programs (prepare you to sit for the NCLEX but you do not technically have an associates degree, usually hospitals will offer these programs)

ADN (associates degree in nursing)

BSN (bachelors degree in nursing)

MN (general masters in nursing)

MSN (masters of science in nursing)

PhD (doctorate in nursing)

the diploma program through the BSN will prepare you to sit for the NCLEX and become an RN.

The masters program will also do that but usually require some sort of initial degree or require that you are already an RN. There are several bridge programs for ADN's and BSN's to become MSN's. There are also direct entry master programs for students who hold a bachelors degree in non nursing fields who wish to study nursing at the masters level. Masters students often have then intention of CRNP (nurse prac), management or teaching.

dont forget we all have to start somewhere! If you decide to become a CNA or STNA, Long Term Care Facilities (LCTF) are a good place to start. Good luck! Hope this helped

Thank you for the information. :) This cruel cruel world will never tell you what you NEED to know but, only what they want you to know. I always know that I can come on this website and get the right info!!!!!!!! Thanxs!! again!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

you're welcome...just dont give up, even if your grades arent what youd like them to be, if you do well from now on you will have a good chance at getting into nursing school. I finished my BA with a less than perfect GPA and am now working towards my masters in nursing. My early college grades werent great asMy admissions counselor told me that many people have less than desirable grades in college and since I showed signifigant improvement they looked at that too. Most colleges (of course I cant speak for all of them) will look at you as a whole person so dont lose hope! good luck:)

I haven't been to this board in so long! I miss you guys! :) I'm so tired!!! I got an A in A&P 2 and in my College Algebra test :balloons: Now it's off to Micro and English 102 this summer *yawn* COngrats to all of you and have a great summer :)

I am finally finished with A & P II. I only got a B but I am happy with that. I am taking micro in the summer and then on the nursing classes in the fall. Good luck to everyone on finals!

I took my final yesterday, but am still so PO'd at our professor.

She STILL has not posted our exam #4 results on Blackboard yet, even though she "promised" to do it Wednesday (we took it Monday), so we'd know our average before the final. Never happened. Then before the final began, she "promised" she'd have them posted by noontime THAT day. Yesterday. Still has not happened.

Plus she "promised" that the final exam results would be posted today, since she only had to run them through Scantron, and the numbers had to be into the college by Monday morning for final grades to be sent out.

And THAT has not happened either. So I'm still missing 2 exam results, so have no clue what my final grade is.

I wrote a nice SCATHING review of that course and her inefficiencies and disorganization. It's totally pathetic, and also amazing how this woman managed to get her doctorate!!

Okay, end of vent.

Congrats to all of those who pulled through this course! I found it very tough -not just with a disorganized professor, but overall, a LOT more studying than I ever did in A&P 1 or in Nursing 101! I *hope* I pulled out at least an 80...

We take our cumulative final next Friday. It's pretty much set in stone that I'll get a B...I'm very satisfied with that!! Good luck to everyone else!

Well, I *finally* got my 4th exam grade - a 94!! Woohoo! So my average, before the final exam, was a 95.5. We have yet to get the final exam grades back yet, but it *should* be tomorrow (should, could, would - but knowing the professor, probably August of 2007.....).

So, I'm on the verge of being estatic - just happy for the moment! Happy that almost surely I passed with more than an 80%, and never have to have that professor again, and that the only science course I have left is Micro, at least until I go for my BSN.

That's great, Doug! I'd be very satisified with a B also. This was definitely a hard course!

Whitney,

Congratulations!!! That is so awesome!! Now you can relax and enjoy some well deserved time off. I'm very happy for you:)

Doug,

You did GREAT! Congats to you as well!

We made it!!! Congrats everyone!!!!!!! Enjoy your summer! I have a whole week off before summer term starts - what about everyone else???

Well, YAY for my professor posting our final exam scores. :)

I passed that with an 84%, so I *know* I passed the course with an 80% or better. I don't even care to figure out what my final grade is - I'll get in a week or so from the college. But until that time, I'll be keeping warm (it is cold here in New England right now!) burning all of my notes and index cards and handouts and PowerPoint presentations and slides in a huge bonfire! I'll even throw my lab manual and study guide in there for good measure, though I'm saving the book for my 8yo son (who would NOT let me sell it back to the school bookstore, even though the spine isn't even cracked on it yet).

SCMom, I start up again on 5/23 with Bioethics and religion. I'm getting a head start on the Bioethics reading, since my friend gave me the syllabus from last semester. It's only a 6 week term, but I know I have to miss a couple of classes because of some VERY important baseball games. ;)
