The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club: A&P 2

Published

Hi all! Just thought I'd go ahead and start this. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas (or whatever you celebrate!) I'm very much enjoying my family time right now.

Spring semester starts January 5th for me, and I'll be taking A&P 2 and College Algebra. Hope to see lots of you posting here like last semester :)

Hey everyone! I thought I'd update y'all on my status. I'm sitting EXACTLY at an 80% right now, with a test on lympatic and respiratory systems next Friday. If I can just get past that with a good, solid B- I'll be sitting pretty well because the final is a handful of digestive, urinary systems questions plus all of our earlier material (we get all the questions and answers from the prof beforehand).

I was really discouraged last week when I got a 70 on my blood/heart test. It was tough. However, I really have to step it up and kick it into high gear, even though that seems hard at this point. It has been one tough semester. I can't even remember what it's like to not have to study!

Don't take it too hard Doug85. Me and most everyone in my class really took a hit over the blood/heart, too. It is tough stuff!! You are doing great! Keep up the good work!

Today, a week later, we received our points for the essay portion of our exam so with 8/10 on that + my 87 on the other portion I cannot believe I got a 95. I AM SO EXCITED :balloons:

One Lecture exam to go (urinary, reproductive, development and water/electrolyte/acid balances) and one lab exam (lymphatic, urinary, reproductive, respiratory) and then one cumulative exam (from anp 101 & 102). This last exam is being required by the school - we are the first lucky ones to have to take it. However, she told us today that since the exam was basically crap - it doesn't cover some things at all and other things it covers in such detail that we probably didn't cover it in class - that if it affects our grade, she will throw the points out. YEAH!

Keep up the hard work everyone - it is almost over for this semester. I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel with this one - Thank Goodness!! How about the rest of you, when is the end of your semester? Our lab final is 04/28, Lecture final is 05/03 and cumulative assessment is on 05/05.

Bye all!

Hang in there Doug.... you can do it!!!!

We were supposed to get our Phy Lab test grades back yesterday, but our Prof had a delay and didn't have them ready. I have a 97 on Lecture, but I tell you I am not so sure about the Lab. I do have a lot of extra credit points in this class so I will be okay if I at least get a B on the lab test.

We had our Microbio test today 3rd midterm. It was much harder than I had anticipated. Our Prof had told us not to worry about some aspects of the 10 labs we did for this section...... then THAT was what was on the test! I knew I should have just studied it anyway. But Noooooooo... since he told us not to worry, I used that time concentrating on the rest of the stuff.

I can only blame myself as I usually "over" study and didn't need to.... I picked NOW to relaxe! lol:rolleyes:

Fortunately, we get to drop one test... I am pretty sure this will be the one as I have an 89 and 90 in the other two.

Now to concentrate on finishing 2 term papers and doing our unkowns in Micro..... will this semester ever end???????????:uhoh3: :uhoh3: :uhoh3:

I just want to read a book that I don't have to memorize for a change!!!!!

I tell ya what, this has been some rollercoaster ride of a semester for me. But it's on a positive note right now- I took our 4th exam on Friday over Respiratory/lymphatic and I thought I did well on it! All I have left is Digestive/Urinary.

Has anyone taken the digestive/urinary unit yet? What do I need to study or look out for? Hang in there everyone, it's almost over...:)

It's almost over - music to my ears :Melody:

Way to go on the respiratory/lymphatic test - as for the digestive/urinary, we had our digestive and it wasn't what I expected. I mean it was easier than I thought (or I just studied harder than I thought). We are having our urinary/reproductive/development/acid-water balances test next Tuesday (5/3) so I am no help there - but am anxious to hear what others have to say, too!

Come on' - 2 more weeks can't go that slow - or can it?? :uhoh21:

Keep smiling & studying,

Traci

Don't let other students' horror stories scare you. Keep your head up, study, and you will do fine.

thanks for the encouragement doug! Ive studied the CNS all day and now i'm working on micro... :selfbonk: only 8 weeks left!

Not only our horror stories - but ones from school. I was told that our AP2 instructor also had a low grade average and that she was very hard. With two weeks left to go let me tell you the truth. She is hard, but not because she wants us to fail. She pushes us to do our very best and doesn't want us to be surprised when we get into the nursing program. She wants us to be very prepared for what is coming next. Also, I asked her one day - how many A's do you give? She said, "I don't give grades. Students earn them." I currently have a 95.6% in her class. You will get out of it what you put into it.

Keep me posted on Micro - I am taking it in a 8 wk session this summer - and it has me nervous!

Be blessed, not stressed!!

Yes yes, I am very familiar with the hard work thing...lol...last quarter I managed to pull a 4.0...this quarter, well with 8 classes i'm keeping fingers crossed...some of the individuals in my class say that my teacher is difficult bc his tests have over 200 questions and from what i have heard the questions are very nit picky, oh well, that just means a few hours extra studying here or there..we'll see how it goes...im feeling by the end of may i'll be so stressed out. Ive never taken 8 classes before....

So far in Micro....i'm not appreciating my instructors teaching methods...she is "kinda out there" and doesnt finish her sentences, its very hard to follow her train of thought as she strays off topic a lot and is always giggling...lol...i heard from another classmate who had her last quarter that on test days she forgot there was supposed to be a test so for two of their exams she had to give them take home tests!! ill be happy if that happens to us...lol...

We're taking our Digestive/Urinary exam (exam #4) on Monday, then the cumulative final on Friday. NEXT Friday - and them I'm done.

As it stands now (you may remember that we get one exam grade of the 4 dropped - the lowest, and now it is TWO lab grades dropped), I have an 84 average with the 3 exams (got a 69(!), an 85, and yes indeedy, a 100 on our last exam!!). My lab average, minus my lowest two scores, is a 103, so no problems there. I'm studying like a madwoman for exam #4, but if I get lower than the 69, which I hope not, it really doesn't matter, since I'm still over the 80 mark.

Our cumulative final won't have any essay's (thank you God!!), but will be come directly from all of our other exams, including the essays, just in a different format.

I'm debating putting a lot of energy into exam #4, knowing that it CAN help, but I don't desperately need it, or just focusing on the final, which I'd need to know the stuff from exam #4 anyway.

Luckily she does post the essay questions a week before the exam, so I've been working on those since yesterday, and re-listening to my lecture voice memos. There are so many enzymes and stuff that we need to know! Mind-boggling sometimes how they expect to know all of this stuff within a week!!

I love those take-home tests!! I know that the Biostats instructor does that for all of his. :p
