Help! Scared New Grad RN. Did I make the right career choice?
The job is as stressful as you make it. I let everything roll of my back and just keep a positive attitude. Finding work life balance is key. Accept your mistakes, don't dwell, learn and move on. Focus on anything positive even the small things. Make friends w your co workers. Try to understand why patients act out or accept that some people/patients aren't nice people and let it go. Ok. Getting off my soap box now. :)

Starting Travel Nursing in NYC
I am hoping to travel there. I think one year is too little experience. Im still nervous with 4 years neuro ICU under my belt...you really have to hit the floor running and in nyc the conditions are sometimes not as good as what you may be used to..plus if you dont have any connections there it is a rough city to start out in.....

Who else is taking/has taken Microbiology??
First off let me wish you luck on your final!! KEep us posted!! Second, no joke, if were one of those ladies you better bet I would have been in the deans office reporting him for sexual harrassment!! That is completely and totally inappropriate...How can you learn anything in a setting like that? Im grateful now that atleast my teacher is nice and willing to help, that is if she remembers!! We just finished our second week of class so I am hoping that I will like it more when we really start getting into things...Lucky for me in my class we dont have to do any research papers or anything soo thats always a plus! Good luck all! keep us posted!!!

Who else is taking/has taken Microbiology??
I hear you!!! My teacher is very nice but she is just kinda out there...she takes her notes directly from the book and just reads strait off them...i can read the book! She then proceeds in lab to throw out terms that she has NEVER gone over! When I go to look them up in the book they are in chapters that we arent supposed to cover for weeks! ugh...lol...she starts sentences and doesnt finish them and in lab if I ask her for help she says ok but then wanders off and forgets I asked for help! Our second lab we had to grow some NASTY bacteria it smelled sooo bad! I just took my first test and I think I did well but the class drags...its totally uninteresting..I cant stand micro but I LOVEE AP:)

ANyway, here is a good link for micro...it has some awesome quizzes and online notecards...http://www.mhhe.com/talaro5 We can make this thread for anything to do with Micro! Tell me why BSN now?
I agree, no matter what any one says ADN/BSN no knowledge is EVER wasted!!!!! Go for the BSN! as for ADN programs "being better at preparing you" as someone said in an earlier post...i dont know how anyone can make that generalization unless they have actually attended every ADN or BSN program...besides might as well do it now and get it out of the way, that way if you want the option for prof. growth after a year or so of experience a BSN can offer you that and you wont have to worry about going back! Good Luck!

What's your grossest, funniest, craziest CNA experience?
LMAO.... oh my...i dont think anything i can say can top those stories....the worst I can muster up is...my very very first day of CNA clincials I had to do pericare for the very first time....my partner pretended to faint so she left the room, it was atleast 100 degrees and my resident had poop all over her...it was so hot and my instructor was sitting there saying, no wipe the other way...lets just say that broke me in....

Tell me why BSN now?
Sheri, there are programs out there where you can enter directly into an accelerated masters program. I did that and my whole program lasts 15 months...I have a BA in Psych/Soc...several schools in my area as well as surrounding states offer these degrees...as long as you have a bachelors in something...pm me if you want more details...

Xray tech~ more $$$ than RN???
LOL i agree, I definetly didnt choose nursing to become rich...as long as i can live...anyway...i think that the OP isnt saying that shes worried about the salary rather she was just curious about her friends comment...if anyone was jealous it was her classmate...anyway...not really sure what monster means by "staff nurse" but im thinking its just a broad term for an RN...they had other options such as "head nurse" and they had some specialties listed...if you want to check it out go to http://www.monster.com and create a basic salary report. Its hard to tell what the difference in salaries would be since everywhere is diff...
