Obsession with nursing( is this normal)?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Guys every day I am worried about whether or not I am going to get into the nursing program, and if I dont what am I going to do. I am applying to an ADN program and possibly a LPN program. The results for admission to them both come out around the same time. I am just so worried that I might not make it in one. I have been working towards this goal for two yrs now and just graduated with my assoc in allied health.

My question to you all is: Is the level of obsession that I have seem on par with others that are waiting?

I spend alot of time here reading the forums, and thinking about becoming a nurse. IRL I spend alot of time discussing being a nurse someday with my friends and in general worrying about what I will do if I dont make it in. I am just hoping and praying that I am normal... LOL

I think it's normal!! :D ..Sounds like someone I know.:p lol

You WILL make it. With your devotion, even if it takes a couple of years, you will make it. Be sure to keep your grades up, number one. Next, make quality use of your time by working in health care while you are waiting. And, what you read on this site gives a good idea of what's going on in nursing, but ultimately your experience (and each of ours) is unique. Just because others can't get into NS doesn't mean you won't. We each have our own story.

I'm done with my ADN classes, and just have precepting to do. I did my LPN the year directly before my ADN. Even instructors looked confused at times, like "why aren't you in a LPN-ADN progression program?". I didn't want to miss my seat in the ADN program in which I had applied to at the same time as the LPN. And I chose an extra semester to risking having a wait for the progression class. It turns out I'll be a RN sooner compared to my LPN classmates, even though most people thought I was crazy at the time! Do it your own way, and apply EVERYWHERE and to ALL programs.

Find balance in your life. Don't be obsessed with nursing. While nursing IS fulfilling, keep it PART of who you are. Part of my New Year's resolution is not to give so much of myself to nursing. I'll be a better nurse if I take care of myself, too. Learn this now!

I think it is very normal. I recently was accepted after a very long wait on a waitlist. While I was waiting I didn't obsess so much about it, but now that it is right here basically I am trying to read every possible thing I can just to absorb as much as possible. I didn't really ever think that I wouldn't get in to a school but I do stress about how long I have been working at my current job and when I would be able to not be so miserable working and I also stressed about at what point in my life I was going to actually start my career. That started after my 25th birthday... Good luck getting is somewhere soon, you will eventually though!

If you're obsessed then so am I (and I imagine everyone else on the prenursing board).. It is perfectly normal, I think. :)

I am feeling a little bit of relief knowing I am not the only one :-) Thank you all!

I am just going to keep working on it and hoping that all goes like I plan.

I think the fact that we're here posting speaks for itself;)

And yes, dreams of getting into my school's program have been at the forefront of my mind since I started the pre-reqs. I'll find out in March if my work paid off. It is my greatest wish to be accepted and begin down the path of becoming a nurse.:nurse:

In the meantime I'm all over these boards reading everything I can.

I too am obsessed, I have finally finished all of my prereqs and coreqs. I just need to take the hesi than I can apply. Any advise for that test (math,reading,vocab/grammar) ??

I think for me I am obsessed with getting in and getting it done so fast because I'll soon be 25 and time is very much against me right now. I guess starting a family IS time sensitive lol...

I dont know much about tests required to gain entrance. Both of my chosen schools base off a points system where GPA and ACT are most of your points. Also there are certain requirements if you dont do well on the math and english portions of the ACT.

I would start by google searching it and then maybe looking at amazon.com for a study guide if you have enough time.

I agree with you you can start feeling that squeeze to get this part of your life over with so that you can move on to other things. I personally have 5 children and am single so part of my squeeze is to obtain my degree and start making a living doing something that I love!

hello my name is mamayogibear and i am obsessed with getting into nursing school;)

yeah it's normal if you're on here!

Ohh your so normal!

Its a PASSION!! I think one of the many parts that will make a GREAT nurse!!

Look at me. I am JUST starting my Prereqs...I am not even planning to apply to nursing school for another 2 years (when my kiddos are in school full time) And I have a huge load of books. Sociology, Anotomy, Microbiology.. you name it. Its all just so intresting I can't wait!!

Dude... I'm so obsessed I have even made a spreadsheet for ALL RN and LVN programs (with in 2 hour drive) with all requirements and deadlines so I know that I am fully on target and I'm taking a few extra classes on the side just in case i'm not let in on the 1st try... lol so ya my boyfriend would totally say I'm obsessed, but I feel my obsession keeps me going... EYES ON THE PRIZE
