Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Specializes in Neuroscience.

Anyone else have it now? Had it before? Advice?

So far I have a test this Wed. on chapters 1-3. Chapter 3 is nothing but a review of the digestive system from A&PII, so definitely an advantage there. I don't find this class as engaging as I thought it might be. I'm bored through most of lecture.:crying2:

Specializes in Cardiology.

I took it intersession over the winter- piece of cake, and yes, more boring than I thought it would be, though I think my teacher did a fairly decent job of making the assignments interesting.

Specializes in Ortho/Trauma.

Nutrition was really boring for me as well, but you do learn good some stuff in that class.

Specializes in Dialysis.

A lot of it is A&P review. Get the math formulas down and basic functions and info on the vitamins and minerals.

Specializes in Infusion.

I often found the class boring. I was hoping for more in depth studies so I kept the text, which was actually pretty good. We only covered about 1/3 of the text book. So much of the class was a review of our A&P classes on carbs, proteins, fats, the digestive system. I did also find that I needed to work a little harder to remember the role of the important minerals and vitamins and know which foods were high in certain vitamins. Like liver is extremely high in vitmn A. There were no pre-reqs for the class so we had quite a few students failing and not understanding basic multiplication. The instructor had all of the formulas on the test so it should have been easy.

Just get through it and just know you are scratching the surface.

I'm taking in this summer online. Class starts next week!

I just finished this class. I found it extremely boring, and I love nutrition! The end of our book was a little more interesting but not much. It was an easy A for me. Keep up with the text and lecture and you'll do great.

I just finished this class & I loved it. I agree the material is rather dull but my teacher was awesome & made it entertaining. It was an easy A for me as well. Good luck & hopefully you get a good teacher.

It's not a very engaging course.

When I had to read 20 pages JUST on calcium (let alone every other vitamin and mineral) I thought I would fall over and die from sheer boredom.

It was interesting, though, to debunk some of the nutrition myths that the media and the real world have perpetuated. Now every time I hear someone trying to lose weight by not eating or by only eating protein or only carbohydrates, I just don't know what to do with them. :)
