Wow MedicalNerd! What a story that was! Your dedication is inspiring to me. I bet you'll be a great nurse...I'm sure your time is coming to get into NS. I'm sure all the tutoring you've done for A&P will pay off for you while in NS. I wish you the BEST of luck with getting into a program...we can all relate on how difficult and stressful this whole process is....have a wonderful Thursday! :)

Wow, some of you guys have a long wait! But I know up here in Ontario, even though we have a shortage of nurses, there's a shortage of nurse educators, so there's usually many more applicants than spaces...I keep checking the online application service to see if there's any change in my application status...none so far, except that I know the college has received my transcripts.

Just want to say that I'm really glad for AllNUrses. I've learned so much about the profession and it's nice to connect with other people in the same proverbial boat.

Does anyone have an idea of the area they'd like to work in?

For me, perhaps emergency, OR, hospice, forensics or NP. I like the possibility of working in a remote area, perhaps further along in my career when I have the more experience and can be more independant.

Here's to all us future :nurse:.

Hey Jaguar Boy! Glad to have you here! I'm wanting to either get in to Women's Health or Pediatric Oncology...but I would love to get my Master's degree first. However...first I have got to get accepted to my undergrad. program!! :) Have a nice day!

that is the same here too. there is a shortage of nurses but an even greater shortage of educators which is why so many get turned down. i'm thinking that since i enjoy teaching, perhaps after a while of being a nurse move into a educator role at least part time. who knows though, right now i just have to concentrate on getting in!

I think that's a great idea, Gurmo...teaching it after being a nurse for a while would be a nice thing. In fact, I would probably go into that too..after seeing how short we are on the teachers! Have a nice day!

How is everyone doing on this wonderful Friday morning?? It's been snowing/sleeting where I live now for over a day. My classes were cancelled yesterday, and today, and so has my work! So I've been able to enjoy some relaxation time! :) I hope everyone else is enjoying their day!

Hi Friendly Ghost,

so I guess you are not so far from me, because it is snowing here too. I'm in CT by the way. i saw on TV that it's going to be around 15in of snow in my area:eek:!

Haha wow that is a LOT of snow. No, I don't live near CT. I'm in Missouri...St. Louis, actually. We consider 5 inches of snow to be a lot here...but it wasn't the snow that got us out of class, it's the sleet/freezing rain. About 2 inches of ice! That, in my opinion, is worse than 5 inches of snow! haha. Be careful when you're out!!! Have a great Friday!!

Not enough snow here to amount to anything. I miss the sunshine and warmth so much. I'm really tired of winter. On this fine Friday... Twin A was diagnosed with pneumonia yesterday. Twin B woke today with sore throat and fever. They were supposed to go skiing with their Boy Scout troop this weekend, but the illnesses put the kibosh on that. The house is a disaster, but here I sit in front of the computer :typing

hey hey, This is a great idea..

I am also a pre-nursing student @ KWU waiting on my acceptance letter. I should know by the end of March and am pretty confident I will get in. I am also a (young) mother of 5 pre-schoolers and am currently enrolled in 15 cr. hours to finish up my pre-reqs before nursing school. :icon_roll I have a lot of drive and have balanced things pretty well up to this point. I only pray I'm able to continue what I'm doing through the nursing program! Anyone else in the KS area?
