Jugre-glad to have you in here with us! Sounds like you and I will receive our letters around the same time! Mine gets mailed out during the 1st week of March according to the advisor! I'm sure the suspense is just as stressful for you as it is for me! Soon enough we will know, though! Wow. Your school has a LOT of spots for their nursing school, however that is a lot that apply. Mine only takes 36 people, and about 120 applied. I bet you'll get in! Let us know in this thread! I love having all these people to talk to about nursing stuff! :)

Nursic-I'm glad this thread is active, too! I have something to look forward to when I get home from school or work! How's the studying going for the A&P test? I wish you luck on the exam! :)

Hello everyone.

I have taken the majority of my pre-requs. I'm doing A&P 2 right now. I considered taking the NET test now but i think i'll fare better waiting until i can focus more on just that. It's very difficult to be patient and have to wait for everything. I work during the day and go to school at night and i am a single mom of 2 school age children so it's a lot, as i am sure you are all familiar! I met a really great guy the end of last year and he has been somewhat of a godsend to me so i am grateful to have his support! I hope everyone else has some sort of support system in their life while going through these stressful years of continuing education! :an!: KEEP THE FAITH!!!!

Hey almostthereha! Glad for you to join in! :) It's wonderful that you found someone who is there for you!! I have a wonderful boyfriend who supports me in good times as well as bad. I love him so much, I feel so lucky! Have a great night!

FriendlyGhost87 thank you for your reply! I'm studying Endocrine and Reproductive systems for my test. These hormons are killing me!

almostthereha, I see that you are also in A@P II. So, how are you doing so far?By the way. I also have 2 kids, so I know what it takes to be a student -mom:pumpiron:

Oh, yeah the endocrine was very challenging, however I loved learning about it. It is so amazing how we are basically run by a bunch of chemicals (hormones)! Oh, and reproductive system is by far the best one to learn about. After going into such full detail about ovulation and menstruation, I never complained about the "time of the month" any longer.....our bodies have an agenda...and that was when I realized how important it is! HAH. Probably just said too much there..... :icon_roll Anyways, enough of me babbling on...I hope you have a great night! Talk to you later! :)

I know how you feel with the whole waiting part FriendlyGhost87! (Casper? LOL) I am totally obsessed with the mail and it's not even time to receive them yet! Oh well, wishful thinking! The letter comes by certified mail and now I'm afraid I'll miss it when I'm picking up my daughter from school or I won't get it at all! We have different mail people almost everyday so I think the mail route is a "training" route. I will DEFINATELY let you know when I get my letter! Good luck to you! :nurse:

Hi All, I just found this website. WOW so much information. I love it. I too am in the pre-req stage of applying to a few different Nursing Schools in my area. I have quite a few back up plans. So hopfully I'll get in somewhere and be an RN by summer of 2011!! Right now I have already taken the ENG, PSY, a pre-req BIO to the pre-req A&P 1 I am in now and am also currently taking a CNA course which is required. I was a CNA once upon a time but because it was back in 2000 when I actually worked as one I had to start all over. So much to do just to even apply but the good news is that the Nursing Schools lowered the pre-req requirements, since there is a waiting list you can apply with fewer pre-req's and while you are waiting for the NS offical opening you can move forward with all the co-req's, leaving people with only the Nursing Core classes. Thats a pretty good idea I think and maybe will offer many more opportunities for us all here.

Hello AZMOMO2! Welcome to the board here...I think you'll enjoy this website a ton, as I have! Great advice you gave! Thankfully, I am done with all my pre-req classes already .... now I just have nursing classes to take! I really hope/wish/pray I will get into the school that I applied to. I think we all do on here! :) Keep posted with us and keep us updated on anything exciting! Have a nice night!

I am so thankful for this thread! I have been so stressed waiting for my acceptance letter! I applied for the Accelerated BSN program. They send out the letters between mid-March and mid-April, classes start in May. I am so anxious to find out as I know we all are. It's nice to know I am not alone!

We definitely need to think positively and believe that we have already been accepted:yeah:.

Good luck to us all!!

Nrsevic, WELCOME! I wish you a ton of luck on getting into your accelerated program! We all feel the same stress as you here, so you are in good company! I also applied to an Accelerated BSN program to increase my chances of getting accepted....because I also applied for the Traditional BSN program at the same school, which accepts less than the accelerated...I'll be finding out around early/mid March. Let us know what happens for you! I agree, we all need to believe in ourselves and think positive. We all obviously care a whole lot about nursing, as we are on the computer talking about it a lot! :) Good luck, and nice to have you here!

Hello all!

Well I have just signed up on this site and I saw this thread and I have to say that it was a great idea for those in this stage of the nursing school process.

I thought I would tell a little about myself and where I place in the Nursing Program rat race. It all finally came together in '03 when I was working full time and taking two and three course when I decided that I was going to need to leave the full time work environment to pursue my dream. In '05 I cut the work ties and left my full time job in the communications industry to see out the final pre-req's that were going to be the most challenging for me. As soon as I was able to I started applying to my local college for their ADN program. Here in my area there are a few choices however; most are lottery. I was not accepted and decided I needed to open my options to other schools in a 50 mile radius. Another semester went by me and I knew what I was up against the 2nd time around. The number of applicants went from 320 to 460 between just one semester.

So I continued to apply the next semester. I applied to 3 schools the 2nd semester, still not one acceptance letter. I then decided that maybe I should look at some accelerated programs and see if that would get me somewhere. I have a decent GPA why not right? I jumped through the hoops and applied to 4 programs as my third round of applications. As of today I still have not received 1 acceptance letter. The local colleges have an average of 700 to 800 applicants at each! Being that most only accept 30 to 70 a semester the chances here are so poor that I have a hard time seeing light at the end of the tunnel. I did however apply to a program that is 60 miles away from me and was wait-listed to #258! That means I will have about a 2 1/2 year wait.

This semester there are only 3 programs for me to apply to. I am feeling like there is no hope with the lottery system. I have changed my way of dealing with the failure of the community college system by reading up on all the issues that surround our problem.

I have been tutoring A&P students for the last 2 years that I have spent waiting and feel that they will be in and out before myself. It is a sad reality that we all face in this position and I am hoping that this 4 time around I will have a lucky lotto number.

...Let the anticipation and dread begin!

To all of my fellow applicants... I wish you the best of luck because having a good GPA doesn't count!
