We use premixed bags of 4mg and 2mg. 4mg for the initial bolus and 2mg for the drip. Our pumps are also preset for these bags and we have to ask a 2nd nurse to verify settings and dosages before we start the bolus/drip. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone :) During a staff meeting last week, we were all asked to think of ideas on how we could improve the experience for our mothers and fathers especially. Right now we are pretty typical and don't have many "extras". One of the examples was a candlelight dinner for mom and dad before discharge, but what else? I wondered if any of you could offer some suggestions on how we could make our moms and dads stay more satisfying. What do you do at your hospital? Also, how do you include Dad and make him feel special? Labor is usually centered around Mom, but as our Director pointed out, he is also going through one of the biggest moments of his life and should also feel special. Hi everyone, I am a new BSN grad and have recently started orientation. I am noticing that my back and my feet are killing me at the end of the day. Hi everyone, I'm a junior nursing student assigned to a class presentation on Contemporary (1960's-current) Nursing Knowledge.. Now, what's hanging me up is that it's seperate from Technology. So far, I've thought about presenting on Med Reconcilliation(incl. herbal supplements), Pressure Wounds, advances in autism and mental retardation.. This is to be between 5 and 10 minutes long and I'm running short on ideas.. Any ideas or advice would be helpful! Thanks, DW :typing

Hm, OB isn't bad and Med-Surg isn't terrible, but probably the most difficult this semester.. We had a terrible A&P and Pathophysiology class, so we're having to work extra hard..

Aaaaaah. This whole tuition repayment is ridiculous. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I haven't figured out how to get them to repay my tuition when I *have* to take out loans to pay for school or I'm not allowed to attend.. if HRSA pays after school has already started, how do I go about getting them to pay my tuition?

Woohoo! I got my stipend payment today! Too bad I started school on August 18th instead of the Friday before! Can't complain tho! Anyone know when we can expect them from now on? First of month, last of month?

okay, well maybe I'll see if it's too late for my school to return the loans. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Also, my HRSA 'analyst' emailed me and said that our stipends would be sent out my the end of the week and should be in no later than the 7th. wooooooohoooooo! I received an email from Y Joyner today and she told me that we were responsible for repaying our own loans, even if they were taken out this semester for nursing school. Maybe I'm an idiot for thinking they'd pay it, but it's really frustrating! She said they only pay the balance after scholarships, grants and loans.. so next semester, should I just deny all the loans and let HRSA pay? ugggggh. so irritating. Hey guys, Thanks SO much for your input! I'm also wanting to prove my instructor wrong.. :) I'm not so sure she's setting us up for failure, I think it's more like she doesn't want us to be disappointed that we don't do so well in one of her hardest units. hi my family and i were also blessed w/ a hrsa scholarship. here's the info i received on payments: "if your fall 2008 classes began in july (and you were enrolled for more than half of that month), you will receive 4 months of stipend support for july, august, september and october. if your fall 2008 classes began in august (and you were enrolled for more than half of that month), you will receive 3 months of stipend support for august, september and october. if your fall 2008 classes began in september (and you were enrolled for more than half of that month), you will receive 2 months of stipend support for september and october. the first stipend payment should be deposited into your bank account by the last week of october (no later than the first week of november). after you receive this initial stipend payment, you will then receive a monthly stipend at the end of each month for that month's stipend (i.e. the stipend you receive at the end of december will be for the month of december).
