is this while still in the hospital? Can't imagine having meds once you're at home, caring for a newborn....

Wow...they are really offered? I guess if they've had really bad time falling asleep, but as a woman who has gone thru 5 labors...sleep just comes naturally.

We offer Ambien 5-10mg but it is a rare mama that needs it to go to sleep.

Yes, we're more likely to give to an ante, or a woman who's having a multi-day induction. I don't recall ever giving a sleeper to a postpartum woman.

I'm v. surprised to hear anyone is still using Dalmane -- I haven't seen it used anywhere in well over a decade. I thought it had fallen out of favor a long time ago.

Restoril/Temazapam

Ambien can work great for induction:yeah:

Very occasionally we see an order for Ambien 5-10 mg with a "may repeat times one if ineffective after 1 hour" addendum. Rarely need to use it.

We have ambien 5-10mg as a standing order. We only give it occasionally.

Ambien 5-10mg PRN for sleep. That is both ante and post-partum.
