Ok guys, I know there's a bunch of us that are studying our little butts off for the NCLEX. We're doing tons of practice questions each day, we're reading everything we can, and we're stressing about it! Everyone says we need to keep a positive attitude and in all the NCLEX books I've read it says the same thing .... positive thoughts are important.
Is there anything you're doing each day while studying to keep a positive attitude about this? I know in Saunders it mentions writing a notecard with your name and RN after your name, and then under that with the word "YES", and putting that somewhere so you can see it throughout the day while you're studying. I haven't done that yet, but it doesn't sound like a bad idea. I want to get all the bad thoughts out of my head.
We can do this! We WILL pass the NCLEX!
Please share any tips or positve thoughts, we can use all we can get! :)
Here are a few good tips I got from a website:
*Always use only positive words in your inner dialogues. Use words such as, I can, I am able, it is possible, it can be done, etc.
*Accompany your inner dialogues with feelings of happiness, strength and success.
*Do not heed negative thoughts. Calmly refuse to think these thoughts, and substitute them with constructive happy thoughts.
*In your conversations with other people use words that evoke scenes of strength, happiness and success in their minds.
*Before starting with any plan or action, visualize clearly in your mind its successful outcome. If you visualize with concentration and faith, you will be amazed at the results.
*Read at least one page of inspiring literature every day.
*Watch movies that make you happy.
*Listen to the news and read the papers, but do that sparingly and with detachment.
*Associate yourself with people who think positively.
*Always sit and walk with your back straight. This will strengthen your confidence and inner strength.
*Walk, swim or engage in some other physical activity. This helps to develop a more positive attitude.
Think positive and expect only favorable results and situations, even if currently your life is not as you wish it to be, and in time your mental attitude and your your life circumstances will change accordingly.

RainDreamer,
ITA with your Positive Mental Attitude strategy! Rock on! For what it's worth, I'm rowing the same boat. I take the State Boards tomorrow morning and have done many things you have listed.
I send my positive thoughts your way and wish you all the wisdom, knowledge, and strength to come through it! Good luck to you! You are in my thoughts.

What a well needed bit of inspiration! I will do the card thing before I start my studies this morning for sure!!
I think it would be a good thing to print or have a picture of a nurse with your face attached to it hanging on the frig!! Positive visual thought!
Also, one thing that I have been doing for the last couple of weeks is saying aloud "I WILL PASS". My family thinks that I am on the brink of going to the mental ward cause I just look at them and say it.......... :rotfl:
During breaks from studying we could kind of meditate and get a visual scene going in our heads in our new jobs with RN or BSN on our name tags!!
We could start a thread on here QD and just give each other positive affirmations about passing NCLEX!! Think I will do this..........
Everybody post suggestions and good thoughts and we will pray to our respective God's that if this the path that he wants us to take, his will will be done!! With God by your side, anything is possible!!!
Make it a great day!
Excellent idea, grinnurse!

ConkyTonker - Thank you! I hope the exam went well for you, I'm sure you did fine! I hope you're able to relax some while awaiting the results.
PresC - those are great verses, thank you for sharing. When are you testing? It's coming up soon isn't it?
Grinnurse - I WILL PASS .... that's a great thing to go around saying! I think I'll start doing that, my family already thinks I'm nuts anyway, so it'll be no big deal if I start going around saying that lol.
Just imagine when we do take the NCLEX, then we wait a couple days (or however long it takes for us to get our results), we see the results and see that we passed, then we can come onto allnurses and make a thread called "I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!" I can't wait for that!!
Me either Rain...............and change our names to add RN!! Won't that be something!!! Soooo looking forward to that day!! And then we can really celebrate...............I have yet to do that b/c this one last step that needed to be taken. When I found out I have passed, and I WILL PASS, I think I might have me a drink of some kind of spirits. :) Your family thinks your nuts too????? :rotfl:
Happy studying!!

Yes I think positive thinking is so important. When one is negative they get a bad result. I knew a guy who constantly said "I know I'm never going to pass it" Well with all that negative self-talk he programmed himself to fail it again and that's what he did he failed it again. When I took my test I felt positive and confident that I was going to pass it and I did. :)

This thread was just what I needed. THANKS! I usually am positive but last few days feeling frustrated and lacking confidence. It makes it worse when I read the threads from people who just got back from taking it and they say how hard it was and how they know they just failed. i will definately be back to this thread for some motivation. I dont take my test until July 8th so i know i have time to study- i just need to stop freaking out-it is only a test and there are a lot harder things in life to deal with. thanks again
Yep, I know it can get frustrating hearing how hard it is and how everyone feels like they failed afterwards .... but at least we know if we feel unsure of ourselves after the test, we know that's a normal feeling.
On the other hand, it's uplifting and encouraging to see all these threads with people saying they PASSED THE NCLEX!! Almost everyone that posted saying they were unsure of how they did and felt like they had failed, a few days later they posted saying they passed .... so that's great!! :)
I can do this!!!!!!!!
God help me, I'm starting to really panic

Raindreamer, I think it is normal to feel anxious before your NCLEX. Just keep telling yourself how well prepared you are and that you will pass it!!!!! :) Take care.
