My School is Gone!
I saw that Johns Hopkins in Baltimore was allowing students to take classes from the hurricane-i lived in orlando last huricane season and was terrified by our 3 hurricanes(much smaller sizes but very scary). I experienced the highest level of anxiety and fear i have ever felt- there is this feeling of losing control of your life- my school closed for a week and i was out of work for 2 weeks (during nursing school no less)- of course you are experiencing worse but i sort of know how you feel and i am very sorry. dont question your feelings or let others tell you not to worry about certain things- you feel what you feel and you do what you have to do to get through situations. you exhibit the qualities of a great nurse and i am proud to share my profession with you! stay safe and let us know if you need anything

Panic Attack
i feel the same way as you. mine shut off at 75 and even though everyone says thats a good sign i cant help thinking i will be the one to fail on 75. i think it really is unlikely and i guess we wouldnt be normal if we didnt second guess ourselves. i got no math questions and only one drug question-mine were almost all priority. i got one select all that aplly and no other type of new format question which is a blessing b/c i am not good at them. my weak spot id l/d and mother/baby and only ogt one of those.

hopefully we both passed- i dont think many people fail with 75 but i could be wrong. i feel bad b/c all my family/friends say "dont worry im sure you did fine" but it doesnt make me feel better. it almost makes me worry more. ny boyfriend tells me not to worry b/c there is nothing i can do now and that made me really angry- i wish he would just listen and say ok it will be a long wait so we will find distracting stuff to do this weekend. maybe i am over reacting b/c i am stressed out. anyway cant wait until we find out and have that RN behind our name!

What an experience! I am normally a good test taker but I was so nervous this morning when I got to the test center I was shaking and felt like crying. When they asked me to put my right index finger on the fingerprinting pad I just went blank- For a second I couldnt even remember what finger was my index finger. Thats insane. I had to start taking deep breaths and calming myself down before I blew the whole test. It stopped at 75 which I hear is good but i cant even remember any questions I answered. I didnt have any math and only 1 select all that apply. i know i can check for results online or call, but can i find out over the weekend or only during the week. Also, has anyone failed with 75?

Nclex July 9th, Work July 11th
I am taking the nclex on july 8th and starting orientaion on july 11th so we are in the same boat...I would rather do it before orientation than after b/c we will be so proud to be starting as a RN during orientation. Plus we wont be concentrating on studying and freaking out, we will be focused on our new job. I have been trying to stay positive so I havent really considered failing but if we did then at least we wouldnt have wasted time orienting. As far as the studying, I think the amount of questions is good- i am around 3000 and am feeling more comfortable. I would still read the book you got. i graduated may 7 and took a kaplan and read part of princeton book- there were some concepts i had forgotten about so i thought they helped. I dont need a permit to start as a GN, my hospital just requires we test within 45 days of getting hired. good luck on the test- im sure we will pass :)

good areas to live in Orlando
I just moved out of orlando but am very familiar with the area so here goes...winter park is nice but expensive, waterford lakes and avalon park are newer communities started which are nice and less expensive than winter aprk but still pricey, casselberry and maitland (little outside of orlando) isnt too pricey and still nice...stay away from the airport area-it tends to be kind of sketchy- i used to live in an aprtment out there and didint like it- then again there could be nice areas mixed in with the bad ones. oveido is nice-there are townhouses everywhere so if you cant afford a house right away you might look into one of those-also if you are moving from another state you might not think hte prices are bad at all. good luck

**Positive Thinking for the NCLEX!**
This thread was just what I needed. THANKS! I usually am positive but last few days feeling frustrated and lacking confidence. It makes it worse when I read the threads from people who just got back from taking it and they say how hard it was and how they know they just failed. i will definately be back to this thread for some motivation. I dont take my test until July 8th so i know i have time to study- i just need to stop freaking out-it is only a test and there are a lot harder things in life to deal with. thanks again

Hired at HCGH...where do I move to?
I just got hired as a new grad for HCGH on 4 south! I moved from out of state so I was not too familiar with the area. Columbia was too expensive (but would have been convenient since my boyfriend and I both work there). We tried Ellicott city which was close but some areas were a little sketchy. We ended up in Owings MIlls (30 minutes away) but its cheaper. We plan on trying to move to Columbia next year. Congrats on the job-maybe I will see you in the hospital.
