:redpinkhe I work with an awesome group of nurses - let's celebrate our fellow staff by sharing positive experiences relating to how our colleagues have helped us out at work... or just smoothed the passing of a difficult shift with a comment or a smile...

What a great post! After a terrible shift- crashing patient who took up most of my shift, another one who was demanding and mentally ill, the night shift says, "Go a few minutes early, we'll call if any questions." Wow. This is not the norm for our unit, so when it does happen, just want to say "thank you" and I won't forget it!

Thank you..thats the most important. Sometimes we tend to get caught up with different things going on, and we always EXPECT to be helped, and usually forget to simply say thank you, or good job.

As a former night shift nurse, I really appreciated when 3-11 nurse gave everybody pain meds and sleepers! :yelclap:

I love my co-workers, anytime something bad goes down I never have to yell out "help!", they are ALWAYS right there next to me without hesitation.
I work with an AWESOME CREW!

Thanks for helping me with the patient who is kicking, swinging and spitting because you can see she is trying my patience. Thank you for helping me bathe the patient on whom we are withdrawing care even though we both know he might not be around too long. Thank you for not sticking me with the very sick septic shock new admit when you know I've only been floated for a 4-hr shift and probably won't be able to do a good job in that short time. Thank you for starting an IV for me because I wasn't able to get it after multiple attempts. All of that was just yesterday.
On an every day basis...thanks for asking me multiple times a shift if I need help. Thanks for not burning me with awful assignments even though I'm a per diem float nurse. Thanks to the more experienced nurses who share their knowledge with me every day. Thanks to the outstanding techs who do an excellent job and make my life so much easier in the process.

Thank you for realizing that I have a patient that is very sick and time-consuming and for making an effort to give me fewer admits.
Thank you for just stepping in without being asked when the going gets rough.
Thank you for getting to work on time so we can get report started on time and I can GO HOME!
Thank you for not nitpicking over minor details or everything not done perfectly while I was having the night from hell. Thanks for realizing that there are 24 hours in a day and that one day I'll pick up your slack where you had the day from hell.
Thanks for being one of my favorite people to both get report from and give report to.
Thanks for listening to my suggestion when you're in charge and I'm just a peon.
Thanks for not giving me grief when I call in sick for the first time this year.

Thank you for coming in with a positive attitude. Thank you for always being there for me, when I am busy, overwhelmed or just need a shoulder to cry on. Thank you for making my calls, doing my paperwork and passing my meds while I comfort the family of my patient that just died. Thank you for being my friend and working for me when my daughter has swim meets and my son has baseball games. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU for introducing yourself with a smile and saying "I know you have little ones at home. I remember what that was like and if you ever need me to come in for you I will." (Who knew it would be me picking up all the time for her when her father was dying?) To my wonderful, lovely, thoughtful co-workers, I love you all, THANK YOU.

thank you for the confidence i enjoy, knowing that when i come to work, my coworkers have my back each and every minute of the shift.
thank you for putting the collective good of the team ahead of everything else.
and many thanks to the shift that follows us, for picking up the ball, and running with it when our day is over!

We had a particularly bad night recently....when the 3rd shift CNA came in she asked who was on a particular hall. I told her and she responded that she asked because the residents on that hall looked great! Everything taken care of, all dentures out and being cleaned, everyone dry and comfortable, no dirty laundry scattered in the room and trash liners in every trash can.
The next night I was off, but called the facility to talk to the 2nd shift CNA's who were on the previous night. I was put on speaker phone and thanked them for making sure our residents were taken care of despite it being so hectic. I wanted them to know that I really appreciated all they do.
I think staff morale is so important, so I constantly try to tell those I work with how much I appreciate everything they do to help our residents and other staff members.

I make it a habit to go around and thank everyone especially after a difficult or "wild" night. I work with an wonderful bunch of civilian and military nurses and for the most part, we all get along.
I especially appreciate it when I am getting a "recovery room" patient and I can focus on getting the intra-op report and the rest of the crew is hooking the patient up (to the cardiac monitor, pulse ox, bp cuff etc)
I have even sent an e-mail (or 2) up the chain (the chief nurse, her supervisor) letting them know what a wonderful group of RN's they have working the night shift in the ICU

"Thank you for not being the arrogant, irritating, whiny, petulant, immature little drama queen that you usually are".
