positive drug test

Published

I was required to take a 10 panel drug screen. I went to my Dr office and my MA clearly didn't know what she was doing Bc she didn't know which test to perform and kept pacing back and forth. She said she'll run it all Bc she can't find the one that is only 10 so I guess I got tested for all the drugs.I went back today and she said one came back positive I'm like *** I was in shock Bc I don't and never have done drugs. She said it was presumptive positive for Caffeine. Would that matter at all?!! I know it's just caffeine but knowing there's a positive on my drug screen worries me it'll kick me out of the program!!!

My drug test came up positive for B.S.

I think the most surprising result would be a nursing student who came up negative for caffeine. :uhoh3:

lol...your positive for Caffeine? Shame on you. :lol2:

Sounds absurd! Couldn't believe I was tested on it! Just so petrified of anything ruining my chances of NS!

If a caffeine addiction prevented someone from being a nurse, I might as well turn in my license now. I wouldn't worry about it besides making sure you were billed correctly!

My doctor was upset that the ma tested me on all drugs. She said that MOST insurances wouldn't cover that, unless I was in a coma or had a legit reason. Thankfully mine covered w/o an issue!

Wonder how many tests she checked off...and who will be footing the bill for it!

That was what I was thinking too. And if I were the one footing the bill for it, you better believe that I would be at the office manager's door demanding a change in the bill since most of it is d/t the MA's incompetence.

The positive for caffeine, not a problem. But I cannot understand the original issue. You needed to be tested for 10 things. The doctor should order testing for those 10 things. The MA should be able to fill out a lab req for those 10 things. If she was confused about it then she should ask someone else the correct way to do it rather than wasting money and resources by saying "oh, just run it all." Oh well, no harm to you either way.
