Poll: where are you going when you finish school?

Published

I am curious to see where you think you will go once you finish school. Even though all we have done are 2 clinical days in a nursing home I already have my heart set on one of a couple different places. I want to go to Labor & Delivery, Psych, or Renal Dialysis. So where do you think(or know) you may want to be once you graduate? ~Twintoo

Specializes in ER.

Torn between Community Health and OR.

Both appeal to me in different ways...of course, I am sure I will change my mind several times before graduation, as I experience new things. SO MANY cool things to choose from!

NICU or Peds i just love babies

Some type of intensive care nursing- SICU or CCU most likely.

Icu, OR, L&D....I wish I knew! I do know that I'm going back to school!

Specializes in home health, LTC, assisted living.

You must all be going for RN? Because most of the depts you all mentioned do not hire LPN's in my state (OB, ER, NICU), etc. as for me, I will be happy to start out in LTC (as an LPN) to get experience, then who knows. :lol2:

Specializes in Critical Care.

Peds, NICU, Med-Surg, Psych...

My goal is psych... I'd like to become a CNS and actually do one-on-one therapy with patients.

:D

Specializes in OB/GYN.

Oncology, Peds, AIDS rehab, Geriatrics, OB-GYN.....................

..................................

.....................................EVERWHERE!!!!

It's an exciting world out there!:p

Specializes in Home Health Care.

I think i'd like L&D, LTC, Occupational health, school nurse, or Dr's office. Ask me again after i've had clinicals :D

LTC, Hospice or oncology ...must be my social work history. Most likely LTC as I love serving the elders.

The other question is where? My last daughter will be out of the house about a year after graduation so I'm strongly considering looking at other places to live. If I'm ever going to move away from the home area, it's gotta be now or I'll be here until another new nurse is taking care of me in the nursing home. ;)

Just where though? Somewhere close to the mountains? Or water?

Possibilities.......it's fun to dream.

I've been in Florida my whole life and just never really got the opportunities to travel outside the state very much. As part of my new career, I'm looking for some new vistas too. Being a traveling nurse seems like a good option for a single woman whose kids are grown and gone, at least in the short term.

I haven't traveled much either outside the state but Oklahoma still sucks. There's not much to do here (I think that's the reason there such a bad drug problem here - it's the only fun thing for people to do). I really miss the ocean. I definitely plan on moving out of this state and becoming a nurse is my way out.

Traveling sounds fun. I wouldn't mind doing it except for being married with two small children makes it a problem.

Cynthiann,

I got outta florida 6 months after I got married. Lived in one of those "little" tiny insignifiant towns where there was a line a mile long to work at the new Wal- Mart. (not that theres anything wrong with working at Wal Mart) I don't know where you live, but there are nice parts of Florida, thats for sure, but there are places where you just feel the life being sucked outta you when you're there. Thats where I grew up. I LOVE Philadelphia. whew, do I love it here.

I grew up in Jacksonville, never really been out to the small towns in FL but I do know of towns here in OK that sound like what you describe. I now live in Oklahoma City and I still don't think there is much here in OK. When people want to go to a city to actually do something fun, they go to Dallas 3 hours away.

I think I will love to live in any city that is near a beach and stays warm most of the year. Here in OK you are stuck in the house half the year because it's too cold to do anything. I hate it because I'm an outdoors type of person.

Disneyworld! :)

No, actually I'm moving as quickly out of FL as the plane will take me. OR or ICU.
