For those of us who have already taken boards, please answer a few questions that might help ease the minds of those who are still waiting to test or for results. I know reading as much as possible about other people's experience helped me feel a little bit better while I waited.
1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?
2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?
4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?
Good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Yes!!!
75 questions (all of which I thought I answered wrong) I took the test on a friday and on sunday (today) I found out that I had passed!!!!!!
I studied from multiple sources books: lippencott review, nursing made easy, mosby's flashcards, kaplan
CDs: kaplan and lippencott
I also used web sites with free questions: Caring4you, rn board review.
no review classes our class did take a mock nclex test but that was it, and the mock test we took was nothing like the real test I took.
I left that room looked up a few questions and realized every question I looked up I got wrong. I told my husband I knew I had flunked (which caused a big arguement, two years of studing and no money blaa blaa bla, only to flunk, you know the poor spouse who had to endure all while I went to school)
well I have passed and yes on my first try!!!

good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!
How many questions.....I had 75 and took nearly 2 hours to answer them
Study materials...I used kaplan, lippencott, and nursing text. Did not take a review class since most people advised me that this was a waste of money unless you had a problem with disciplining yourself to study.
Previous testing. My SON did not give an exit exam...although we have a 95% pass rate on the NCLEX
Test results....got my results in exactly 22 hours via my BON.
Thoughts about the test...went there feeling pretty confident that I would pass. Didn't sleep the night before and got lost on the way to the testing center. After we got there the proctor did not show up for work and we ended up starting late. I felt like I missed a lot of questions. I cried and threw my boyfriend out last night because I was sure that I had failed...I still can't believe that I made it!
Passed on my first attempt. Yippee! :lol2:
1. how many questions did you take on nclex?
75
2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course?
i took the kaplan review, used the saunders book, kaplan test q (although i only took 4 of the 7 tests), mosby question cd, ati books
3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)?
ati every semester
4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
still waiting, but i only took it a couple hours ago.
5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
i was numb and ambivalent. i don't feel like i passed, i don't feel like i failed. i honestly have no clue how i did. i can't change it now and i can only hope for the best. i'm hoping that i can be another positive 75 question shut-off statistic.
6. was this your first attempt at nclex?
yes.
1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 75
2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course?
lippincott nclex review, nsna nclex review (it has quick-read outlines for review.) our school offered drexel review. the woman read from a book, with her finger, for 4 days straight. i loathe that woman.
3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)?
yes, i think it may have been hesi. maybe not. it was a booklet of about 280 questions. i was convinced i failed it b/c i knew nothing. i got an 85%, which is in the 99th percentile of all people that take it. i almost fell off the chair.
4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
49.5 hours, pass! pearson site, still not posted on bon.
5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
"what the hell were they asking me? boy am i glad i had a peds patient with that rare disorder. boy, i wish i knew something about rsv, though. were the questions getting harder? i have no idea. crap there were a lot of distractors. must call everyone i know in order to keep from puking. i don't feel any more sure about my abilities than the people who got 110, 180, 265 questions. that is one weird test. i don't know how to best prepare, i don't know if i prepared well, and i really don't have any advice on what will work."
6. was this your first attempt at nclex?
yes.
1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?
75 questions, 50 minutes
2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?
Saunders, Lippincott's Palm program.
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?
They offered Medspub.com online tools. In addition, they hosted a 4-day training with a Medspub instructor.
5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
I thought it was excruciating. Easily the hardest exam I'd ever taken. Almost immediatley it felt like the questions leveled up and only got harder. Seemingly I had no easy questions after the first one or two. It also seemed almost entirely to consist of prioritization questions with (at least in my case) heavy emphasis on infectious disease, psych and med-surg. I was certain I failed in spite of many friends' sound logic to the contrary based on my observations.
6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?
First and last.

5. Absolute disbelief! Disillusioned. Nothing I EVER expected
6. First attempt (Thank God). Never want to do this again. Will NOT go for RN (nothing personal, RNs...I just can't take the stress anymore).
