Polk State College Fall 2019 Hopefuls (PSC)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Well let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Austyn and I am 26. I have been in the medical field for about 4 years now. It all started when I got my EMT-B licence back in 2015? Needless to say, I still have my EMT, but I have decided to transition into Nursing. I have all my prerequisites completed, except for Micro (which I am taking this Summer at HCC online).

Lets talk about the TEAS, who else dreads it? Or is it just me? I have taken it a total of three times. My first score was 56.7. My second score was 64 and as of today (I took it this morning) a 74. I know Polk's min. score is a 70, but most of the students who get accepted make high 70's up into the 80's.

I have been looking for a thread for Polk State College Nursing Fall 2019. I have had no luck, so I guess I will create one in hopes that someone comes across this and we can all share our stories and talk about Nursing school.

After searching for a thread, I came across some other ones for the previous years and I saw they were comparing there scores for the point system Polk uses... I guess my score is a 107.5, not very high compared to theirs. They were talking about theirs being around 115-120. I know Polk is competitive, but I am worried I wont get accepted. Anyone else in my boat?

Thank you all for reading (If anyone even reads this...)

Yeah I would just call to make sure.

Hey everyone I’m Janisa. I’m hoping to get into the transition program. I’m not too sure as my points are like 107. I made a 76 on the teas but all my prereqs and microbiology is finished. All Im currently taking Human development . I currently am an LPN and I have a Bachelors degree in Science. Good luck to everyone

Hey Guys, I applied for Fall 2019! I took the TEAS once and got 76.7%, I'm going to retake it after a&p 2 since science was was the only part I didn't do well on. I do have pending acceptance to UCF bachelor's RN program but their program would push me back a semester since I would have to take nutrition and Micro before starting nursing classes. I have a 3.41 GPA so I think I'm going to have 111 points with my AA degree

Nice to meet you kconkle!

Wow, that’s good that you got such a high score on your TEAS on your first try. Well hopefully you get into UCF, that would definitely be awesome! With your points, I’m sure you’ll get into Polk. Good luck to you and everyone else!!

P.S. my application was approved, now I just sit back and wait for that Manila envelope (:

I know they close it on the 31 but when do they actually make decisions and mail out?

They say by mid June.. so I’m hoping by the week of June 10th, because that next week on the 20th and 21st orientation starts.

Nice to meet you kconkle!

My application just says ended instead of approved or in progress. Is anyone else having this issue?

That just means that it's been processed you won't actually find out if you're approved through etrieve

Once on Etrieve, if you click on your activity.. and down on the bottom it will say history, click that and there it will show approved by whomever approved it ?

Ok thank you. I saw where it was approved.

Hey everyone!! My stomach is in knots waiting to hear back and applications don't even close until tomorrow!! Ughhh… If I calculated my points right, I have a 110. My GPA (I began college in 2000) isn't great, so it hurt my overall score. I think my overall GPA is 2.87 for my Bachelors and 3.04 for my Masters. My GPA for the pre-recs is 2.7. I scored a 76 on the TEAS. I have a Master's degree, so an additional 6 points. Thanks for creating this thread, I'm enjoying reading everyone's posts. Best of luck everyone!!
