Polk State College Fall 2019 Hopefuls (PSC)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Well let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Austyn and I am 26. I have been in the medical field for about 4 years now. It all started when I got my EMT-B licence back in 2015? Needless to say, I still have my EMT, but I have decided to transition into Nursing. I have all my prerequisites completed, except for Micro (which I am taking this Summer at HCC online).

Lets talk about the TEAS, who else dreads it? Or is it just me? I have taken it a total of three times. My first score was 56.7. My second score was 64 and as of today (I took it this morning) a 74. I know Polk's min. score is a 70, but most of the students who get accepted make high 70's up into the 80's.

I have been looking for a thread for Polk State College Nursing Fall 2019. I have had no luck, so I guess I will create one in hopes that someone comes across this and we can all share our stories and talk about Nursing school.

After searching for a thread, I came across some other ones for the previous years and I saw they were comparing there scores for the point system Polk uses... I guess my score is a 107.5, not very high compared to theirs. They were talking about theirs being around 115-120. I know Polk is competitive, but I am worried I wont get accepted. Anyone else in my boat?

Thank you all for reading (If anyone even reads this...)

Hey everyone!! My stomach is in knots waiting to hear back and applications don't even close until tomorrow!! Ughhh… If I calculated my points right, I have a 110. My GPA (I began college in 2000) isn't great, so it hurt my overall score. I think my overall GPA is 2.87 for my Bachelors and 3.04 for my Masters. My GPA for the pre-recs is 2.7. I scored a 76 on the TEAS. I have a Master's degree, so an additional 6 points. Thanks for creating this thread, I'm enjoying reading everyone's posts. Best of luck everyone!!

Omg, my stomach is in knots too. Patiently waiting over here! ;)

Hey y’all,

I got an email regarding when the acceptance letters will be sent, “Notices will go out no later than 14th, hopefully before”.

Who else is excited and nervous? ME!!

Good luck to everyone.

I didn't get that email. My application was received, so I'm not sure why I didn't... hmmm

I just took to them this morning. They said that the letter will go out by the end of this week.

I’m right there with you, with 107 points.

My sister (who also applied to the generic program) was told that usually a 110-115 will get you a spot. Obviously, that changes based on who applied that term and what their scores are. She was also told that it's easier to get into the spring term, though I'm not sure why.

Yay that’s so exciting! I can’t wait to get mine

I just hope I get in as an alternate.. I also have heard it’s easier to get in the spring, not sure why. I’m still hopeful!

It's very nerve-wrecking either way. I'd rather know I was rejected than have to keep waiting... killin' me!! Hurry up!! If they go out a week early that would be great!!
