Polk State College Fall 2019 Hopefuls (PSC)

Published

Well let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Austyn and I am 26. I have been in the medical field for about 4 years now. It all started when I got my EMT-B licence back in 2015? Needless to say, I still have my EMT, but I have decided to transition into Nursing. I have all my prerequisites completed, except for Micro (which I am taking this Summer at HCC online).

Lets talk about the TEAS, who else dreads it? Or is it just me? I have taken it a total of three times. My first score was 56.7. My second score was 64 and as of today (I took it this morning) a 74. I know Polk's min. score is a 70, but most of the students who get accepted make high 70's up into the 80's.

I have been looking for a thread for Polk State College Nursing Fall 2019. I have had no luck, so I guess I will create one in hopes that someone comes across this and we can all share our stories and talk about Nursing school.

After searching for a thread, I came across some other ones for the previous years and I saw they were comparing there scores for the point system Polk uses... I guess my score is a 107.5, not very high compared to theirs. They were talking about theirs being around 115-120. I know Polk is competitive, but I am worried I wont get accepted. Anyone else in my boat?

Thank you all for reading (If anyone even reads this...)

I just hope I get in as an alternate.. I also have heard it’s easier to get in the spring, not sure why. I’m still hopeful!

No hope for me. I checked for other semester usually 108 or 109.my teas is low and already took 3 times. 68, 72, 72

Christy, don't give up!! One of my sister's friends is in the program now after applying 3 times!! Keep reaching for your goal. I got a 72 on my first TEAS exam and then my score went up. There are (cheap) books you can get online that will teach you how to study for the exam. Best of luck!!

You gotta stay positive Christy!!! No negative thoughts, my points are low too, but I can at least say I tried, right? I took the TEAS three times too. My scores were: 57.6, 64, and 74

Anyone here apply for transition program?!

Hey you guys! My name is Brittany and this is my second time applying for the generic program-- the first was for Spring but my points fell short. This time around I think I have about 109ish so I don't really know what to think. I applied and like all of you I'm awaiting a letter or manila envelope but I leave for Europe tomorrow and will be gone for two weeks. Does anyone know what requirements are to be met upon acceptance and what the deadline is? I'll be back on the 19th, in time for orientation on the 21st, but I'm afraid that if I am accepted that I'll need to complete what's required in the less than 2 days I'll be back. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance and good luck to you all ❤

Hey, if you don’t mind me asking, what we’re your points for the spring? You have two points more then me this time around so I get feeling nervous and unsure, but I’m trying to stay positive.

As for you being out of the country, I was told by a recent graduate that I work with, just call either Dr. H or someone in the nursing department and let them know you’ll be out of the country until the 19th and make sure you have someone to get your mail for you. Good luck and have a fun and safe trip in Europe ?

Anyone know what the "cut off" for points was either last fall or last spring??

What was your point spring if you don't mind?

I think I was at about 105.
