Polk State College Fall 2019 Hopefuls (PSC)

Well let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Austyn and I am 26. I have been in the medical field for about 4 years now. It all started when I got my EMT-B licence back in 2015? Needless to say, I still have my EMT, but I have decided to transition into Nursing. I have all my prerequisites completed, except for Micro (which I am taking this Summer at HCC online).

Lets talk about the TEAS, who else dreads it? Or is it just me? I have taken it a total of three times. My first score was 56.7. My second score was 64 and as of today (I took it this morning) a 74. I know Polk's min. score is a 70, but most of the students who get accepted make high 70's up into the 80's.

I have been looking for a thread for Polk State College Nursing Fall 2019. I have had no luck, so I guess I will create one in hopes that someone comes across this and we can all share our stories and talk about Nursing school.

After searching for a thread, I came across some other ones for the previous years and I saw they were comparing there scores for the point system Polk uses... I guess my score is a 107.5, not very high compared to theirs. They were talking about theirs being around 115-120. I know Polk is competitive, but I am worried I wont get accepted. Anyone else in my boat?

Hi Austyn, my name is Ebone and I am also hoping to be admitted in the fall. I libe in Tampa and have two young sons. I have an associates in allied health from HCC and a bachelor's from USF health science. I took the TEAS in March and got an 86%. My cumulative GPA is a 3.44 & my prerequisite GPA is 3.28, so my points come to about 123. I've been wanting this for so long and I'm hoping I get in.

Hi Austyn, my name is Demetria and I am also hoping to be admitted in the fall. I have an AA in general studies from Valencia Community College. I took the TEAS in January and got an 83.3. My Overall GPA is 2.94 and my pre req GPA is 3.5, so my points come to 117.5. I'm hoping I get in as well.

You guys should not have a problem with getting in with your total points! I’m nervous.. with my 107.5, but I’ll see once I apply here in a few weeks. I can’t wait!

Hello, my name is Paige and I'm applying for Fall as well. I work for the Sheriff's Office part time but my Nursing is my dream career. My GPA is on the lower side but my TEAS score is 76.6 so I hope to get in. I know Fall is harder to get into but I have my AA degree so hopefully, that will help. Good luck to everyone!

I submitted my application twice. on the first one I didnt get to put any information in. So I got on from my laptop and submitted with all the information. Do you guys think that will be a problem? Should I call?
