Hi! As part of a group project for our mental health class, we are looking for feedback from experienced nurses regarding symptoms of burnout, and what coping skills you have found effective when feeling burned out. We have set up a survey, and would really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to fill it out. Thank you in advance!

And don't forget to renew yourself daily with meditation, prayer, music, exercise, whatever helps to center you and keeps you sane.

I wrote that new nurses should try to find a unit that they sense an openness and teamwork atmosphere. Feeling alone on the floor and stressed is the fastest way to burnout city!

I said: If you get time for a lunch break, leave the floor (don't eat while you chart!). Hide in the clean utility and say the F word a few times PRN. Use your PTO. Don't pick up extra shifts. Journal. Exercise. Eat ice cream. Vent on allnurses. :)
Wish units like that were hiring...
Good advice nonetheless.
