Published

so as u all know (i been failing, failing, and failing). i posted a blog a while ago i am ready to test in a week and all i have been focusing is about kaplan! i'm not gonna lie i have been confident in a way maybe too confident b/c kaplan says the strategies do work and the passing score is guarantee. it also said that if u obtain a 65% on your practice quizes you will pass and if you dont keep going back to the questions until u do and you will ge tit. the truth is as of right now i have reviewed all 1,000 questions some make sense and others i still need practice. but i feel confident i have done nothing but kaplan so maybe idk. what do u guys think (u guys that done the kaplan for nclex-pn) do u feel kaplan q-bank 1000 questions really did helped you?. i mean it refreshes my memory i guess i want feedback please i beg you guys. i test in a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if u guys (anybody reading this) have study kaplan to pass the nclex-pn please give me advice. and i would strongly appreciate it i would also want to please ask all the people that have been in my shoes please tell me. if u also like me taken this test nclex-pn various times and then passed. this is a very important question: why do u think u didnt pass the previous times u took the test? please i would appreciate any feedback!

I think I passed from taking question after question! I started studying my first year of school, as I heard some instructors use them on test questions for in class. I did Saunders, mosbys and Kaplan. I did questions in some other areas like physical therapy, nutrition and respiratory. Luckily our library had a nice multidisciplinary library. Even though I am not obviously taking the physical therapy assistant test they helped me with stuff like gaits, transferring patients ect.

Nutrition had a lot of good questions about diets, teaching and such.

Good luck! My friend passed her 6th time. You will do great.

Prepare for, and take it again. If unsuccessful, do it again, until you pass. You will pass as long as you don't give up.

I really liked Hurst review. They have a great class, plus on line test banks. I found the Hurst questions VERY similar to the NCLEX questions. You can do it :) Good luck!!!

I took the NCLEX Feb 2009 and I took Kaplan over two weeks with about 10 days after to do as many questions as I could before the test. I did all of the qbank questions and all of the tests - the minimum required to get my $'s back if I failed. Like so many, I thought I had failed, but turns out I didn't. The most recent graduating class has had a lot of people take the NCLEX without a prep class and many have failed. All who have taken Kaplan (that I know of) have passed. Good luck to you!

You need to figure out why you are failing, to be honest five times is a lot - if it's knowledge deficit, then you need to learn the information; if it's test anxiety, then you need to address that; if it's not understanding how they ask questions, then something like Kaplan will help.

I know you are testing in a week and I hope things go well. If things don't work out again then you probably should see if someone can help you understand why you are failing - generally it is one of the above reasons. Once you know what you are missing, then you will be more successfull at remediating the problem.

Best of luck during this next week remaining calm and thinking positive thoughts!

here in ontario canada. If you fail the board exam 3 times (Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination -RPN or Canadian Registered Nurse Examination) you have to redo the whole program.

If you have come across any of my posts in the student nursing section, you will see why I advocate Hurst Review as the absolute best review of any review on the market. No, I don't work for Hurst, I just sincerely believe their style of teaching and making you LEARN the material (by being able to teach it to others) helped myself and at least 15 of my other classmates pass the nightmare HESI exam (another long story, wont go into it).

The Hurst review is a review with entertaining video and commentary, lecture provided, that teach the core of what you need to know to NAIL the NCLEX. It focuses on learning information in a way and teaching it to your study parter. If you can teach the information, you KNOW it. For me, the NCLEX was about prioritization and safe nursing practice. IE: What action should I take first? What med should I administer first?

Which patient should be seen first? Also basic nursing knowledge on medications that are commonly used. When would you administer a PPI? When to hold Digoxin? What medicine not to give with nitrates? What medicines to not give with MAOIs? What not to drink with ACE inhibitors? Also, general information on vitamins and lab values.

I hope this helps. The NCLEX isn't all about specialty practice; it's about prioritization, safe nursing practice, and general medications. Goodluck, you sound confident and determined, so you should be ok! Just remember, you'll be looking back at this in a few years and laughing!

I've heard a lot of folks praise Saunders. The say read the chapter, Answer the questions at the end. Until you get them all correct, read the chapter again, take the questions again. IF you get them correct you may go to the next chapter but not until then, Allow 3 months for this.

Saunders is a bit out of date with its question format. Content is still good and if you are pressed for time, then it can be a great review if used correctly. That means taking the test at the end of the chapter before you read anything and if you miss more than two questions then review that chapter. If you don't then skip it.

I took a Kaplan review course to prep for the NCLEX-RN and I can't praise it enough. Besides having access to all those 80 billion review questions, the class was super helpful in not only reinforcing a knowledge base (which was actually a really small part of the class), but also taught HOW to answer the questions. In fact, the course taught us how to answer questions we don't even know the answers to by eliminating answer choices to 2, thereby increasing the likelihood of choosing the right answer.

Straight up, if you are still so unsure of your ability to pass, which is what it sounds like, maybe you should attempt to move back your test date. Don't be in such a rush. Besides being stressful and emotionally draining, these tests are EXPENSIVE! Just because you CAN take it multiple times doesn't mean you SHOULD!

Good luck with whatever route you choose to take!

Does you school offer any counseling? Failing 5 times means that something is not working. You need to find the root cause and work from there. My school offered a private tutor that would test you to detemine the reason you are failing. Ask your school if they offer the same. Your school gets a report each time you fail and it looks bad for them. Does this demonstrate that the program was lacking? Make them work with you. You put in the time and money to earn the degree, they need to help you pass the test.
