Desired Salary Question
When you get hired to a facility, it seems like more and more are asking what is your desired salary?. So my question is: If the amount you put is less then the starting wage at the facility but you didn't know it, will they bump you up to the regular pay for your position?, or just keep what you said and wait for a raise? If two new grads got hired same time and put different amounts for starting salary and one got a higher amount even though both have no experience and someone else comes in and puts less amount would they even it out with each other even though you are doing same job???

confused.
There was a facility i was told about that had a group interview of about 7 people and their was a total of 4 interviews before you got the job:eek: and it was ON-CALL

Documentation after shift ended
How long after your shift is completed are you still doing charting on residents. Just curious as to what others say. I know some places are slower then others but for a regular 32 resident unit. Dementia and behavior floors Thanks

Epi Pen makes a good day
quick question. when an Epi-Pen is given you don't hold the skin like you would with for example a SubQ injection. You just inject it anywhere in the thigh right

PLEASE i need help! I failed Nclex 5 times!!!
here in ontario canada. If you fail the board exam 3 times (Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination -RPN or Canadian Registered Nurse Examination) you have to redo the whole program.

Please help me.
try volunteering at some locations so you could get the hang of how the floors are and ask them if you can shadow a nurse for a day so you can see how life is on their floor.

Doctors orders
Hello all i have a question regarding new orders. Say you have a patient with a pain and the regular standing orders are Tylenol 250 mg P.O q6h PRN. if you give them the pill and they are still in pain within one hour. What i would do is message doctor saying: "MR. Smith complained about pain 4/10 in left upper quadrant, given Tylenol 250mg as per standing orders and it was ineffective, patient is still in pain 4/10. Any suggestions?" and doctor replies, " Tylenol 500mg P0 B.I.D" So i would chart in Nursing notes about the patients pain, sent doctor a fax about it and next send pharmacy the copy of the doctors orders. then begin with the pain med when appropriate correct. I have to contact family or not So i have questions: 1) Am i missing anything?? 2) Its not necessary to contact family is it? just double checking? or would you make them aware of it but it might go away but since its doctors orders maybe just update them on the situation?? Thanks all

New Grad RN...Why can't I hear lung sounds!!
where are you listening?, make sure you do it in a quiet area of course but most importantly i always close my eyes when i listen to them because you will be able to focus more on the sound then looking around and not focusing. Also you have to consider and diagnoses this person has that can relate to why they have decreased lung sounds, did they smoke before, COPD, any respiratory issues?. if not you can ask other nurses on you floor what they do differently then you.

Sigh. Is this really how we are graded?
That was the longest post i ever read. But they should remember that saying, "you never know what you had till its gone." you did the best that you could, but unfortunately things happen that don't favor everyone. Best of luck.
