Physician abuse of nurses

Nurses General Nursing

If you have ever been verbally or physically abused by a physician please email me. I was recently physically and verbally attacked by a physician. [email protected].

I'm sorry you've experinced this. Please get a good attorney.

Is your employer doing anything about it?

Will the "doctor" be broght up on charges, reprimanded or what?

I used to work in a laboratory as a Medical Technologist where some physicians are verbally abusive. The Director of the laboratory would talk to the physicians and told them off. I once hung up on a nasty physician, I thought I would lose my job, when I told the Director, he said to me "good for you..." I have changed my career to Nursing, I like what I do so far.

I sincerely hope that as you were physically attacked that you not only wrote up an incident report but also had the physician arrested for battery. Just because you have MD behind your name does not in any way, shape or form grant you permission to lay hands on another. It makes me sad that any human regardless of title or profession could treat another with such indignancy, be so void of common decency. I am so sorry that this happened to you, I hope that the administration at your facility revoked priveledges to this monster, after all it seems as though this physician has an anger management issue and if this doctor could assault you just think of the harm he could inflict on helpless patients!

When I get my nurses licence, I doubt any physicians would dare attack me since I have huge muscles from bodybuilding many years. What a coward. Sorry to hear that. This person has to be punished.

Verbal abuse is uncalled for, but physical abuse is intolerable. I do hope you take legal action.

Good luck.

Thank you for your replys......and yes, I did not press charged for assault and battery........the physician was taken to jail........and returned to work the next day.........how is that for support from you company.

I am sorry to hear of this abominable act from a medical profession. If you have a union, use them to your advantage to extract support from your employer. Have the union press to have his privileges suspended. report him to the licensure board in your state, make them aware of what their fine upstanding doc has done.

DO press charges against that doctor. Get your self a good lawyer and do not let him walk away untarnished. He should pay for the assault and battery. Just because he writes MD after his name does not make him immune.

Please keep us posted on how things turn out and when you see him on the floor, make sure you are never in a position for him to try and bully you to back down. Stick close to the nurses desk, keep a co-worker with you when he is on the floor. But never compromise your safety. If you feel like he may lie in wait in the parking lot, have security or a friend walk you to your car and wait till you are safely in side with the doors locked. Good luck and God bless you.

The reason the physician assaulted me was because I was out of work for 2 days due to the fact that my daughter delivered a son that experienced intrauterine hypoxia due to placenta abrutio and was placed on life support with possible brain stem injury......

aside from the assaut and battery..... all your prayers would be greatly appreciated regarding my grandson, Blake and my family. This is a terribly difficult time for us. God Bless

The physician does not like to work alone.........and gets very angry if she has to.

Assault and battery because she had to work alone!!!!!

How incredibly childish and selfish of her to behave that way. (((HUGS))) The very least she could have done was ask if all was ok. sheesh!!

You and your family and that precious babe are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dlynn, I will certainly be praying for your grandson and the rest of your family.

I also hope that doctor learned her lesson..unbelieveable.

Please keep us posted.
