PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

For everyone who doesnt already know: lecture tuesday am on campus 9-2:30. Lab only for first 4 weeks on campus 9-3:30 Thursday and Friday. Then clinicals kick in and you are in hospital Thursday and Friday 7:00-2:30.

RN composite scoring formula:

The first steps is to take your pre-req GPA and multiply by 25 then multiply that by .45.

The second step is to divide your TEAS by 2.

The third step is to add 5 points if you are a Pasco or Hernando resident.

Add your scores and that is your composite.

Example:

GPA 4.0*25=100*.45=45

TEAS 80/2=40

Resident +5

45+40+5= would have an entrance score of 90 for the program

Ok thanks Nohlsson..this packet looks overwhelming..it says it's due by Monday but I may need to ask for more time. How long did it take to get the results for titer?

You will have up until around when classes start to complete it all. Most of us went to Care One for the physical and titers. It only took a few days for our titers to come back.

I am a graduate of PHSC nursing program (I did LPN there, and then decided to do my transition to RN at Rasmussen, which I actually liked way better than PHSC). I also have the "inside scoop" on how they choose their nursing student candidates.

PHSC weighs the TEAS test very heavily as part of your acceptance to the program. So do the absolute best you can on that before you submit it. Yes, GPA is part of it, but TEAS is also very important. Good luck.
