PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

Being that you have a BS, why don't you do the accelerated degree and get your BSN? It will take you the same amount of time

Medic6758,

Do you know of any other than USF? I don't meet their requirements because I took a couple classes over to boost my GPA and they only look at first attempt. Also, South U offers one but I have yet to hear anything positive about their program.

I applied to a few entry level programs over the past and was unsuccessful. So I'm seeing if I can go the ADN route. Since I'm moving to Tampa I figured it would be the best option.

The only schools in the Tampa area that offer an Accelerated BSN degree are University of South Florida, Tampa University, and South University. If you go roughly a little more than an hour south of Tampa into Fort Myers, you have Florida Gulf Coast University.

I understand your situation now, however it never hurts to apply, you will never know if you do not try. As far as South University goes, I was also skeptical like you due to all the negative remarks that I read about, in actuality it is a decent school and of all the private schools it is the cheapest.

Thanks Medic,

I will give USF a shot as a "Hail Mary"...it'll be close to where I'm hopefully going to live. Thank you for your positive insight.

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if there is a thread completely dedicated to Fall 2015 nursing hopefuls, but I thought I'd share here that I'm planning on applying to the RN program this fall and hoping that I get into east campus. My GPA is 4.0 and my TEAS score was a 91.3, making my total percentage 95.7.

Anyone else interested for this fall?

Congrats you will definitely make it in with that composite score. We are having a blast in our current classes and I'm sure you will enjoy the program.

I'm also hoping for the fall program. You have awesome scores and I'm sure you'll make it. I'm finishing microapps and nutrition this semester and am taking the teas within the next month or so so hopefully I will do as well as you. Did you use the teas study guide for studying any other helpful tips??

Yes, I used the ATI manual and the 5 TEAS Practice Tests from McGraw Hill. I also watched hours of youtube videos to help explain some of the concepts in more detail.

As for studying, just make sure you understand the material in the ATI book instead of just memorizing it, especially for science. I didn't have a study buddy, but if you can find one, that's even better. There are also TEAS study groups at most of the campuses. Porter does one every few months and East (where I'm an A&P tutor) has one coming in March (I believe, it's not posted yet) so definitely ask around for those at the TLC.

Oh great thanks so much for the info!! :-) really hope I do as well.

I just wanted to let everyone that still needs to take their TEAS, know that East Campus will be having TEAS workshops in March.
