  1. We will have the labs alone until the 24th of Sept. After that we'll have clinicals alone. We wont have them at the same time.
  2. Just wanted to let everyone know that even though clinicals don't start until the 28th of September, that there will be "labs" that might be on different days than the clincals, to lead up to working at the hospital. For example, my clinicals are Mondays and Fridays, but I was just informed that there will labs on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting the 26th of August until the 24th of September. This wasn't mentioned in the orientation and if a friend hadn't informed me I would have had to call out of work last minute to make it. If you want to find out when these labs are, go onto the PHSC website, look under programs and courses, and click course schedule. You can then search by campus and by suffix (NUR) and find your lab section. Under your section it should say when your lab days are. For all of east campus it's Wed. & Thur. 8:00-5:30
  3. WithValor, it is not accredited according to the PHSC website. Apparently from what people have told me its very close to being accredited, but as of right now, it's not. Bachelor of Science in Nursing | Pasco-Hernando State College "The baccalaureate degree in nursing program at Pasco-Hernando State College is a new applicant pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.New applicant status is neither a status of accreditation nor a guarantee that accreditation will be granted."
  4. Nancy told me that herself so it should be accurate. We'll see on monday though...
  5. I was told that as long as we brought the receipt monday then that would be fine and they'd give us the form then.
  6. Here is the finished list! I think I got everyone's response down and I'm sure most of us are so tired of the darn thing we don't care anymore, but it's here for future semesters to look at! 7. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for you!
  8. Hpfl2015: I did see the original post and wont answer as I had planned. I only want to say that you are right and there is no need to apologize for posting it. A lot of what I've said as been childish and immature and speaks of someone much younger than my 20 years. I apologize to everyone for that. I did not think before I clicked post, on several occasions over the past couple of days and that was not fair to you all, to the school, or to myself. One tidbit on my previous post I will clarify however: When I say I know more than most about the hard work that goes into applying for this program. I mean that I've worked in the TLC for two years and have seen countless men and women struggle to get the grades and the scores that they need. I never meant that I worked harder than anyone, I see how my words can be taken that way and that's not at all what I meant.
  9. Thanks. I knew something had to be up as well, which was why I've been a little...snotty. I honestly feel like my lifespan has taken a ten year hit and I'm so drained that if I could, I'd just sleep till orientation.
  10. Who said I didnt have a mental breakdown? I've spent the last hour crying and sobbing in pure anger and fustration, lol
  11. So to recap. I did not receive an email the day everyone else did. I called Connie several times, left my info and never heard back. Spoke to Connie on the phone and was told I would receive a letter in the mail. Sent an email to Connie and was told to expect a letter in the mail. Spoke to an advisor that called west campus and was told I would expect a letter in the mail. They told me several times to expect a letter. Letters that have mostly been denials. But, when I get angry and a tad snotty and pretty much demand for someone to check into my status, I get a "oh yes, ms.lastname, you were offered a seat and we forgot to send you an email" I am so incredibly fustrated right now. People let me sit there and stew for two weeks thinking I wasn't accepted. Let me sit there and wonder if everything I've been working toward was for naught and then when I was good and angry enough to call over and over again until someone picked up, they decide to check it out and let me know. Orientation is on the third! How in the world am I supposed to have everything ready? Sorry, had to rant and tell everyone what was going on. Hopefully no one takes offense to my opinion. This is simply that, my opinion and my frustration.
  12. First, I'd like to say that I never meant to offend anyone and I apologize if anything I said so much as rubbed someone the wrong way. Secondly, I WOULD NEVER purposely insult the integrity of the students that have applied for the nursing program or the current students. I know more than most the amount of work and dedication that goes into getting a good GPA and receiving a competitive TEAS score. My only slight against the integrity of the school is only applicable if they are using other criteria than what they tell students and other staff members. That's not okay and if that's the case it's rather shady. Again, I don't know if that's what's going on or not, but that's the only reason I would have doubts against the school. My confusion and hurt over possibly not being accepted is in no way diminished by the fact I have arthritis and have thought about the life-long possibility of nursing for me. I still put in three years of my life, I still studied for a month and a half for the TEAS test, that hurt over realizing all of that work was for nothing did not suddenly disappear because I came to the decision that the arthritis in my back might give me a problem as a nurse. I'm offended that someone would think that my medical issues suddenly makes it unacceptable for me to upset over possibly being rejected. If you read my post, I said that I WOULD rather have a bachelors than an associates after working for five years. Remember that I was fully intent on getting that associates before this whole situation occurred and I never once said that an associates "wasn't good enough". It's probably the most difficult associates degree out there, for goodness sake. I was only saying that PERSONALLY I would not be reapplying for next semester since by the time spring rolls around I could be well on my way to a higher (not better) degree. Thank you, Hpfl2015 for bringing the meaning of my words to my attention and reminding me that I'm no longer a teenager, and thus no longer have an excuse in thinking the world revolves around me. I will reiterate that I never sought to harm others or to imply that all of you aren't incredible people that will make incredible nurses. I will be posting the final list once I get my letter, whatever it says and wish you all luck on your next semesters, whether it be as LPN's, RN's, or PHSC students trying to improve your scores.
  13. I have no idea what kind of letter they're sending. Due to the fact the deadline to accept a seat was today and orientation is next Monday, I'm going out on a limb and saying it'll be a denial. Honestly, though, all of this time has given me time to think and I don't think nursing is right for me since I've had arthritis for 7 years and as much as I love helping people, physically, I don't think I could do it. If it is a denial letter, I won't be reapplying, that is completely unjust and unfair and there is no way I want to be associated with the program if someone with my scores wasn't allowed in. Plus, in two years I'd like to say I have a bachelors, not an associates that took me five years.
  14. So I held off on going to west campus today since I had to work and didn't think calling out over this was the best idea. One of my coworkers at east campus literally dragged me down to the main office when I told her what was going on and after sitting there for TWO hours I was told that I would receive a letter in the mail shortly. Apparently, west campus wont even tell an academic adviser at east campus if I'm accepted or not. At this point, I'm probably just going to finish my AA and get my bachelors in health sciences like I originally wanted. I'd be done in two years and have a higher degree than I would if I stuck around in the nursing program anyway. The last of all the letters should be out by Wednesday, by the way, that's according to a nursing instructor I just finished speaking to. So everyone SHOULD know by then. 15. From what I was reading, it is three semesters and in order to apply to the transition program you have to have a copy of your LPN license, so I imagine there would have to be a one semester wait between the two programs. Hopefully someone that has a little more experience with this will jump on and give you more information.
